Sons and Fathers

The farmer teaches his son what crops to grow,

And how to care for them as the seasons go.

The son watches as his father plant the seed,

Listening close to know the care they need.

Fathers, do your sons know what you believe?

The young ones will learn by what they perceive.

Pride is in a father’s heart when his son follows his lead.

The son learns his father’s ways by his word and deed.

Fathers you should know in your heart and mind,

That the trials of this world will visit for a time.

And it is only when we stand firm and bold,

That we can, with both hands, our faith take hold.

If the truth you believe, then the truth you will live.

If love is in your heart, then it is love that you give.

That which you truly believe, that you will seek to do.

Not for show, but because it has become a part of you.

When a father loves his son, these things he shows,

So that the son may stand tall and true as he grows.

Fathers to your young you are more than a friend.

You are a provider and teacher until the very end.

You fathers, you the priest to your young, be wise,

Know and speak the truth and do not over criticize.

But with much prayer and with love in your heart,

Teach, so as they grow from God they will not part.
