Roads

Don’t let your eyes fool you.

I’ve not always been this way.

You see each day that passes,

There’s a little change that happens.

Some roads can be rough and rocky.

Some roads can be hard and long.

But one road will lead you to the light.

All the others will lead you wrong.

I have been to a lot of places,

And I’ve seen amazing things.

They make it look so inviting,

With all the pleasures of this world.

Yes, they almost turned my head,

But I remembered the words momma said.

Some roads can be rough and rocky.

Some roads can be hard and long.

But one road will lead you to the light.

All the others will lead you wrong.

Many of my friend didn’t listen,

And they got caught in the trap.

Their lives spun out of control,

Some in prison, some I’ll see no more.

So at the cross roads, I knelt at the cross.
