What is a family?

It seems some have lost sight of what a family should be.

Where is the pride in the family name and the honor of family values?

All we hear about today is the decay of the family.

I came from an older time when each member in a family had a role to fulfill, and a responsibility to the family as a whole. Each member was expected to be true and honest to every other member of the family and to do their best to strengthen the family unit.

There was a clear and strong leader of the family who was not afraid to pray to God for strength. And lead the family with a firm hand through troubled times, and took time to teach the family how to reach out to others in need.

There was a member who ran the day to day household, working hand in hand as one with the head with a common goal. Often times assisting the leader in any way required.

As kids, we had time for work, a time to learn and we had time for play. And as young we did as we were instructed without complaint out of wisdom and respect.

But when I was young I had no running water, electric lights, TV, Video Games, Air Conditioning, DVD’s, or even supermarkets. I live in a rural area where we walk to church and respected each other and life. Yes, that was a long time ago. We’ve gain a lot since then and lost even more.
