well, good morning everybody.guess what my gripe for today is.correct, incompetance!in every way, shape,or form!I,used to be so mild mannered, never complaining, even when faced with down right rudeness.well,it must be my age or something, but where as i would once smile at the old lady pushing infront of me in a queue,a drs receptionist who would grunt as i entered the surgery, not even bothering to look up from her latest danielle steel novel, the down right rude sales person, just out of nappies, who would rather discuss her latest boyfriend/new pair of shoes /who had done what to whom/or the latest big celebrity gossip, than serve me.i,could go on all day.Now i,have put up and shut up for too long.!!Now,the old lady gets glared at and told politely but firmly ,that the queue, ends at the back of all these people standing infront of her.the receptionist usually is asked if there is any chance of her booking me in ,or should i just come behind where she is sitting and do it myself, just incase she loses her page(best to do this with an audience,so she can hear the waiting patients sniggering ,they dont call them patients for nothing)!!!!!and ,as for the young sales girl young enough to be my daughter, although she would have been brought up with manners!),well one thing ive found quite effective with them,is to(depending on the time),shout at the top of your voice"any chance of some service?",or just as loud"are you open for service or are you just modelling the clothes, not selling them!last one works like a dream, they are so used to us reaching the top of the queue, smiling and waiting some more ,while they discuss the nights arrangements with the girl standing next to them.actually if you are met with a sneer its quite good to ask if she has an infliction, that keeps the irritated people behind you happy!well, thats my gripe for today, over.tune in tomorrow for the best of all " how to deal with the telephone pests, who just wont take no for an answer.have a good day everybody!luv, sharonxx

I love it, I totally understand what you mean, especially the old woman, they are ALWAYS pushing infront of me & it makes me so angry!!!Can't wait for tomorrow's episode!

What happen to good customer service????????

ARGH, rudeness is my pet peeve. My mom and I just came back from the linen store. She pulled into a parking spot, then a young girl zoomed in right next to us, threw open her door as I was about to get out and just looked at me! My daughter would never have considered such a thing. Miami has been voted as having the #1 rudest drivers in the nation. Unfortunately, rudeness doesn't stop on the roads. And the sales people and receptionists: if I were their employers, I'd fire them if they ever put the customer or patient second to themselves. Well, there's my gripe, too, LOL! You know what, when my children were growing up, we constantly were told how polite they were. I often wonder why some find it so hard to teach manners and etiquette, it's not a big deal and takes no time if they're taught when they're young...go figure. Okay, rant over!

Those little old ladies are taking over, aren't they?!

I'm laughing from your entry - not so much because it's "funny" but because you are soooooo right in everything that you said! I've also found that the older I've gotten , the less tolerance I have for just about anything!
Can't wait to read tomorrow's entry. One of my pet peeves is that people just don't know their name. Most of the time when I am calling a patient from the waiting room to bring them back, I call and call their name, look them right in the face, and they still don't acknowledge themselves. It's not until I get right up to them and say " mr or mrs so and so - I'm ready for you now". then they look all surprised like they just heard their name for the very first time. How do you not know your name?????????? have a great nite sweetie!

I, like you, don't put up with rudeness. Once, my son and I were standing in line at the grocery store and I told my son to wait while I retrieved something I forgot. When I came back, there was a woman in line that was not there when I left. When I asked her what she was doing, she told me that she took my place. I told her it didn't work that way and she ignored me. When it was her turn at cash, I took her one item and put it behind my order and smiled at the cashier, who was totally taken aback. "I'm next" was all I said.

OMG, you are so right!! I thought that kind of stuff only happened here on this side of the pond, I guess rudeness is global, LOL! You crack me up Sharon, don't ever change! Love you. HUGS!!

wow...thank goodness it's not just me....I have been in the Health profession working as either front desk receptionist all the way to assisting patients and doctors in the back. Over the past 3-5 years I have made the same commment...why are people so rude these days> I answer phones all day long to assist patients calling to make appts. At the same time I am trying to assist patients on the phone I will have a patient come up to my window and start talking to me, plainly seeing I am on the phone with a patient, making an appointment or trying to answer their medical questions...they don't even acknowledge it, they expect me to drop the call and check them in for their appt, even though they are 30-45 mins early for their appts. THEN, they will be the first ones to come up and complain to me when they see other patients being called back and they have been "ignored"....I am 56 yrs old...I have never been so short with people before in my life. I was NOT raised that way nor did I raise MY children that way...trust me, I KNOW that little old lady...AND that 20 some year old girl talking about her new shoes and latest gossip. What is happening to our world??By the time I get home at night I don't want to talk to anyone..I've been cused at, yelled at, even had a patient throw her money at me when I told her how much her visit had been. Hey, I'm the one that worked her in to a already loaded schedule that the doctor had, but HE saw her...now she throws money at me....I am sooooooo tired of rudeness...ok...there's my 2 cents.
