Actually my INR levels have been pretty steady lately...between 2.3 and 3.4. Yay!!! Though I still look like a heroin addict with bruised veins and all.
I have to say, now that I have adjusted to Warfarin....it's not so bad. I know my levels don't go crazy that easily. I have been eating some salad and enjoying my veggies, and also drinking wine (up to 3 glasses a day) with no problems.
I just got re-tested for FVL because my dad (supposedly) tested negative for it, as did my mom. Yep--I still am heterozygous for it. And the other mutation as well. Darn! My dad is in denial I think. I know his doc was not too keen on testing him for it, because he said it was unnecessary. I disagree. I think it's important to KNOW your body and what you may be predisposed to. My Dad is in Rhode Island, so I never actually saw his test results, but he told me he was sent all of his blood work results in the mail and next to "Factor V" it said "Normal" in the doc's handwriting. I don't think that sounds right....
So life is pretty "normal." If anything, Warfarin has helped be be more motivated to stay moving and active, eat better, and not drink so much (not that I did before...)
I did just read a scary article that said if you are double heterozygous for FVL and Prothrombin Mutation, AND you are pregnant, your risk of getting a blood clot increases by 100 fold. YIKES!
