"New" drug!??????????????! Mood
Tuesday, April 29, 2008

An announcement of a “new” drug was posted today at the Crohn’s and Colitis Association of America website (ccfa.org).  This is absolutely ridiculous!

It states (in part):

*****************************************************************

“The drug, called Cimzia, aims to treat adult patients with moderate to severe versions of the inflammatory bowel disease who have not responded to conventional treatments. More than 1 million people worldwide suffer from the chronic condition, according to the agency.

Regulators cautioned that the drug comes with significant risk including increased risk for "serious adverse effects, including serious infections that can lead to hospitalization or death," the FDA said.”

*****************************************************************

In brief, it states that the FDA approved this drug which has “significant risk,” “serious adverse effects,”  “infections that can lead to hospitalization or death.”

Are you seriously telling me that this is GOOD for us?!?

I think I will stick with Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)!

Wishing you all the best!

You know what all they are out there is to make more money off the sick. They come out with all these drugs the just keep us sick and land us in the hospital time after time. I think its a big conspiracy. I bet there is a cure for cancer out there they just don't want to come out with it because then there wouldn't be anyway to make money.

Cimza is a TNF-alpha antagonist just like all the other biologics, i.e., Remicade, Humira, etc. They all have that same warning. All I know is that I'll never do another one. Remicade attacked my liver leaving me with autoimmune hepatitis. My plans are to convince my GI doc that LDN is my best option for treating my Crohn's. I had made this decision before I found DS.org but I was delighted to "run into" Patti and her positive experience. Hopefully before too very long (I have to get weaned off the Entocort) I'll be out here too singing the praises of LDN!
