Journal Entry for October 29, 2007 Mood
Monday, October 29, 2007

Hi everyone.

Last week I asked you to help me decide where to donate two $1,000 charitable grants.

I’ve received hundreds of amazing stories of courage from our members, and I thought I’d share just a few of them with you. Perhaps they’ll inspire you to take action, or maybe they’ll just remind you to live every day to it’s fullest. Either way, you’re all heroes to me and everyone at DS.

We’ll make a decision on the grants in the next few days, and I’ll let you know where the money ends up going. If your journal entry isn’t listed below, it’s just because we ran out of space, but we’re still considering everyone for the grants.

Please take a moment to read these incredible stories and learn more about the organizations these members support.

I will put my two cents in about worthy causes to receive the grants.
As I'm sure most people here will tell you - they are personally affected by illness or challenges.
While I support all of the research and scientific work that goes on - I would like to send money like you are proposing to organizations that provide people who are inflicted with disease or struggling with specific disorders the opportunity or motivation to improve the quality of the life they are leading.
As such I would reccommend Island Dolphin Care. It is a unique place that offers "Dolphin Therapy " to physically and mentally challenged children and adults. It is an unbelievable place. It is a 'joy factory ' . People visit and have week long therapy and then go home and do incredible and unthinkable things in thier home therapy programs. A visit to Island Dolphin Care for an individual will provide long lasting and life changing therapy for the entire family of that person.
Please check out thier website .... www.islanddolphincare.org

    Thanks
    Melanie .
P.S. Yes - that is my daughter in the Media segment from the Today show.

The Hemochromatosis Foundation Of Central New York could certainly use some financial assistance.- Despite the effort put forth, we have yet to receive a single grant to assist in our efforts to make people (including county health officials & those in the field of medicine) AWARE of HH and just how important early detection & treatment can be.
