In 2004 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I do not require insulin but I must do my part to keep the disease under control. I try to eat right and exercise as much as possible. It is a challenge for the most part as I love food, and my favourite kinds are those I must eat less of. The correct way to gain control of diabetes is to be mindful of all the complications that can occur throughout this insidious disease. I do not want to lose a limb or my eyesight but I find my health deteriorating even though I do as much as I can to fight this battle.
Furthermore, diabetics are required to take medication that can be costly. I find the natural remedies work better for me so I seek the guidance of a naturapath doctor. Regardless it is expensive to be diabetic. I have found my routine changed for the better as a slow and gradual progress. I am doing better than before but not as good as I want. Some days I have to struggle more than others. I do fight to maintain my state of health in many ways: healthy eating, exercise, meds, charitable donations.
One of the ways I keep fighting is to donate to the local charity here in town that contributes to research and hopefully find a cure. The main goal of the Canadian Diabetes Association to find a cure. One day that may happen. I must take good care of me so that I may live to see that achievement.
I will keep up the fight and live one day at a time.

Wow, thank you for sharing my wonderful friend. It sounds like you are doing great and really working hard at it. I understand the feeling of some days not being as good, but it happens to all of us when we try to make a change such as you have. I am really impressed..

Hi - I just read your journal entry, and it's helping me come to terms with the fact that I'm type 2. I just got the confirmation last week and am on Metformin. I am scared of what could happen to me if I don't take care of myself and eat right and exercise. It's scarey stuff, but I'm going to keep my head up!
