About Me
Hi...I'm 53 years old. I've found with maturity comes diagnoses! I've acquired asthma, depression, IBS, and I am grieving the death of my mother. Did I mention I'm peri-menopausal? Yes, that too. I want to be healthy and happy...I moved to CA for the sunshine and this one form of treatment really helps. I used to be on many psychotropic drugs. No more. It is pure sunshine therapy for me! Still, I have a depressive personality so it is a constant struggle. Lately, and since my Mom's death, it has been especially difficult.Living with a bipolar man who creates drama constantly. Not easy sometimes. Please find me if you can relate to any of this. Thanks. Hugs are welcomed.

Close Asthma
Type: Adult AsthmaTwo exacerbations since August 2007. I've missed 2 months of work each time. I'm slow to recover from each exacerbation. Why? My doctors haven't been able to figure this out.
Treatments
- Advair Working / Worked
- Been on this 1 yr at the lower dose, now on the higher dose x 1 month.
- Albuterol Working / Worked
- Used this occasionally for a few years but now, regularly.
- Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
- Yoga breathing....it is helping.
- Inhaler Working / Worked
- I wouldn't leave home without it!!
- Singulair Working / Worked
- I think this helps!
- Xolair Working / Worked
- Excellent! It is making a difference in my life...a big one too.
- Zyrtec Working / Worked
- Helps lots. Now over the counter.

- Was on this for a few years...recently off and trying Zyrtec. I had thought Allegra helped though...until this recent exacerbation.
- Flonase Working / Worked
- I hate the stuff but admit it helps.

- I think it makes me drousy and lethargic but permits me to breathe.
Open Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
I've been suffering with this for a long, long time. It is so debilitating and embarrassing!

- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- I found out I'm lactose intolerant...so I avoid milk, etc. This helps.
- Colace Working / Worked
- Taking it twice daily.
Open Depression
Long, long history of depression. Now, doing better. Off of meds for this.

- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Talking only. No meds. I found an excellent therapist and the frequency is once every other week. I like her style. She and I get along well.

Open Family & Friends of Bipolar
I live with my boyfriend who has bipolar disorder. My mother, who passed away a year ago, was also bipolar. I worry my daughter has it. This is a diagnosis that surrounds me, it seems.

Just put it all together and now need to wade through the breakup. I could have put the pieces together sooner but I have been too ill. Now I am going to go through this and see that I need support. Please take me into your group. This is such a difficult process.
