      Mood June 30, 2008 4:02pm

I'm feeling pre-emptively disappointed in my new endocrinologist.  MDs always, always disappooint.  I hate her already.

Still can't believe it, after 2 days of making funeral arrangements.  Maybe it will never come true for me until I get to be where he …

    • The hits just keep on coming

      Mood May 25, 2008 10:02pm

Well, my dad died out of nowhere.  I guess I just can't believe it.  At least not my bloody useless rational, thinking brain.  …

Hey...you made a comment about dairy containing morphine in one of the discussions...is that true?? If so, where did you learn that? It explains a lot about our culture's dairy dependency!!!

Did he refuse to have your blood tests for thyroid problems? If you're going back to him, ask him directly to have the lab work done. I'm blessed with the doctors I have. Reading about so many problems with doctors really sheds light on the problems. I have found too that some dr's don't know what to do with an educated patient. Mine love it. Just keep trying till you get the answers you are seeking.

    • Close Diabetes Type 2

Dx'd 13 years ago, when there was no coverage for testing supplies, so without checking they put me on insulin and said I had Type 1. I have no actual characteristics of Type 1 and now the insulin no longer works. Trying to get pills prescribed at next MD appt. Maybe that will help get people off my back -- they always get angry and bark at me that I cannot have Type 2 if I am on insulin.

      Treatments

Insulin (Regular and NPH) Not Working
The stuff worked fine for years, my reading were excellent. Almost a year ago that started to change. Now the shots do el zilcho.
      Yoga Working / Worked
I can get my BS down 50 to 100 points in an hour doing yoga!
      Garlic Working / Worked
9 horse pills of garlic/day help a lot, apparently with the insulin resistance. That's also the main thing that helps when I have a flu bug or something.
      Goldenseal Working / Worked
Really drops the BS to normal; you're not supposed to use the "therapeutic" dose of 6 capsules daily for more than 7 days in a row, but this is an emergency.
    • Close Bereavement

I've lost 23 people I know since 2000, including my best friend and someone I'm not allowed to grieve because he isn't really my son, he only feels like my son. I hurt every day.

      Treatments

      Crying Working / Worked
All day, every day, as needed.
      Helping Others Working / Worked
      Keeping Busy Working / Worked
      Reading Working / Worked
      Remembering Working / Worked
      Talking Working / Worked
    • Open Food Allergies
      Type of allergy: Other Foods

I am allergic to freakin' EVERYTHING. Dairy, chocolate, walnuts, tomatoes, nitrites, MSG, cola, caramel coloring, tobacco, feathers, dust, pollen, corn, mold, soy, coffee and tea.

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
I have a really restricted diet, between the diabetes and the allergies. It's a royal pain but eating an allergen makes my blood sugar shoot up.
      Anti-Inflammatory Diet Working / Worked
That's meant to say "anti-inflammatory." Somewhat helpful. VERY hard to do, I'm a lousy cook.
      Benadryl Working / Worked
Half a tab before bed helps quite a bit, but not completely.
      Metformin Working / Worked
I took a 10-mg tab of Metformin and without insulin went to Burger King and ate a deep-fried chicken sandwich with a slice of apple pie. BS=178! Miracle!
    • Open Migraine Headaches

Had 'em since I was in high school. They were in check for years and now I'm starting to get one every month when "the Cardinal visits." Yay.

      Treatments

      Imitrex Working / Worked
      Really helpful. But pricey!
      Ginger Working / Worked
Great finishing touch when used with Imitrex and Feverfew.
    • Open Vegetarians & Vegans
      Type: Vegan

I just made the move to go vegan after a week-and-a-half trial showed me how much it's improving my various wretched health problems. This is more like it. I've flirted with raw foodism as well.

      Treatments

Raw Food Diet Working / Worked
Really helpful, but franly I donlt have room for a dehydrator and all that other gear and I'm not about to do it whole hog.
      Vitamin B12 Working / Worked
I take B-complex regularly and it helps my shattered nerves a lot.
    • Open Health Care Reform

I'm a social worker by trade who lives in the worst-off state in the union, economically. It's appalling that people all around me are being ruined financially because they don't have a health plan and got into a car accident or caught a nasty disease they can't afford to treat.
