    About Me

I was born with my thyroid not working. they didnt find it until I was 23 months old. I coudlnt walk, speak or sit up on my own. After starting treatment and physio I started to catch up though had epilepsy till age 7. I went deaf at 16 after my thyroid dose was changed. At 33 I started having problems and they thought i had MS at first. My TSH levels are sky high and T3 levels very low, i have constant fatigue, need a wheelchair and can barely speak but my doctor insists i dont need T3 i just need to take my tablets (T4) which i have been taking since i was 23 months old! I have ataxia (problems co-ordninting muscles ..worse in legs and speech) and stiffness in muscles (spasticity..leg muscles only), I often get asked if i have Cerebral Palsy but I have never officially been dx with anything else other than congential hypothyroidism. I wondered if anyone else out there had ever had similar problems all from thier thyroid not working?

    Interests

I like taking my dog out on my mobility scooter and I train her to help me around the house. I like water colour painting. I like chatting on computer as face-to-face communication is very difficult due to my speech/hearing difficulties

Born with thyroid not working, had symptoms of mild CP (cerebral palsy)at birth but after physio etc theyw ere barely noticeable, went deaf at 16 after dose was changed. Thyroid stopped converting at 33, ataxia symptoms came back probs balance, co-ordination, stiffness in muscles was misdiagnosed with MS. Now need wheelchair and have severe speech problems at 38 years ol.

      Treatments

      Synthroid Working / Worked

    • Close Cerebral Palsy

I was born with my thyroid not working I was floppy baby with feeding problems still coudlnt sit up, walk or speak by 2 yrs old. After treatment i did improve and the co-ordination probs in legs were barely noticable unless i was really tired. Only my speech gave away signs of disability as i coudlnt control my pitch and intonation even though i was hearing until age 16. I also had difficulty getting words out and when tired sound drunk. I was never actually told as a child that I had CP.
