We got a new puppy! He's a black lab. Rosie named him Patrick (off of Spongebob, she has also named her new uncle, …
It's been an eventful couple of days. Thurs. we had to leave the puppy in the kennel while I went and had the testing done for MS. To say that puppy was not happy is an understatement, to say the leasst. He managed to somehow get his kennel half way across the room, and puppy and inside and outside of kennel was a mess. He had pooed and peed and rolled in it and got it all over his paws and then was scratching at the gate on the kennel to go in and out. Unbelieveable!! He had shot poo right through the gate all over the kitchen when he was scratching to get out. So hubbby took to cleaning out the kennel, while I gave Toffee a bath. You could tell I had a puppy with an attitude. He did not lick me, or wag his tail, or come excitedly over by me when hubby took him out of the kennel. He was ticked. ![]()
Took till the middle of the next day before he was my lovable little Toffee again.
What a mess though. Next time I think I need to get a puppy sitter. My house smelled like a kennel, a very, big, and very dirty one.
We got everything cleaned up for the night and I awoke to the puppy sticking a thick plastic cord in my face. I thought where did he get that from. He's lucky we didn't have fried puppy. He chewed right through the cord on one of my matching lamps in the livingroom and chewed the plug part right off. I was not too happy. He has lots of chew toys and he had to chew my lamp cord in half. So I went to the store and bought him some more chew toys. Oh did I mention we had to throw some of his toys out because they were so full of poop that there was no way they would be salvagable.
If you've been following my journal, you know that I said that the SS system was a breeze. Well, there was a link that they had to send us to complete at home and you "only had to fill in a few things". Shouldn't take more than 1 1/2 hour. 6 hours the first night. It kept displaying a message to click this within 5 minutes to give you another 30 minutes. Well, everytime you clicked it, it took you back another 3 pages and erased thhe last 3 pages tjat upi did.
And then they shut the system down at 1:00AM. Hubby called SS office next morning and told them how user friendly he thought their system was at that rate there was no way we could get this in by Oct. 7th. (deadline). So we tackled it again last night. Another 5.5 hours and then we were supposed to go back and fill in anything that didn't fit the first time and to read and review it the and make changes. We were all done and just reading it over and a message came up at 12:30AM that the system was going down until noon on Monday for maintenance, so we couldn't submit it. I thought my husband was going to explode.
Now we will have to submit it on Monday after noon and hope that with all of the problems we had it will still go through.
That was the two most stressful days I have had, ever since the Dr. told hubby that stress makes the fibro worse and oh does it. Yesterday was bad with pain and today is even worse.
I'm back to feeling like
. I can't find the blacktop roller or it would be up here too. The pain meds with the vicadin on top aren't even touching it.
And of course the puppy wanted to go for a walk.
The bottoms of my feet, hands and knees are the worst at the moment. Plus I have a splitting headache which I am sure is from the last two days, because it just won't go away. Feels like what few brains I have left are going to blow out the back of my head and my left eye. That would be very messy and I have cleaned up enough messes in the last couple of days. LOL
But I already hurt so bad,I though hell, I'll just go around the block with him, that couldn't be too much, besides doc says even if you are hurting you have to walk some everyday. Well, after the last walk Toffee took me on, (and I mean that literally) I went and got one of those retractable leashes so he can go faster than me if he wants to, up till a point. Besides, he is so curious, he has to stop and examine everyt leaf, nut, bush or anything else along the way, so it gives me time to catch up. His favorite is dried up nightcrawlers. He acts like its beef jerkey or something. Well, the little stinker, every time he found some shade he would lay down on his belly and stretch out while I was walking in the sun to catch up to him. Once around the block and back into the house, where he drank his water bowl dry and then layed down under a fan right along side of my chair at the computer and is out like a light. "Poor little thing" is tired, and all I am, is still very sore with an even worse headache from the sun. I'm on like 4 meds that say to stay out of the sun. Yeah, right. Next time doc, you take the walk and I'll sit in the air conditioning and wait for you. LOL
I bought these pads hoping he would use them to go instead of all over my house. Well, the first time he had the right idea, but put the front half of his body over it and as we all should know that is not where his plumbing is. So almost all of that ended on the floor. The idea is to keep moving the pads closer to the door until you move it outside and then that's where he will go all of the time. We'll see.
Well the 2nd time I was so proud of him, he made two puddles during the night on the pads. Then when I got back from my walk I went into the livingroom, sure enough there lay two nice long turds. And a wet spot on the kitchen floor and another in my computer room, which my husband left the door open to when he saw the SS sight was down for maintenance. So much for the pads working all the time. And, I have no idea when he made them.
I think after the kennel poop and the cord incidents, Tom was ready to give him away.
Anyway, now that the dog is asleep and napping, I think I'm going to take another pain pill and lay down and maybe I'll feel human again when I wake up. And not like this :
Talk to you all later!! ~~Faye~~

Why am I not surprised filing for disability was such a hassle??? Our government at work, you know!!
My in-laws got two puppies a couple of weeks ago and are finding them exhausting. They don't let them in as MIL has eyesight problems, but even being outside, they wear them out. I can't imagine the mess!!! Hope it's nice enough to keep the windows open.
blessings.

A little hint about dealing with Social Securities... Don't let em know ya mad, never yell of complain... turn it around and act confused and ask for help, no matter how much crapp they throw at you yelling and cussin will only cause you delay... I know I dealed with em for eight years... in person in the office waitin and waitin and waitin in line... I know its tuff... but trust me, show no frustration or anger... specially if ya go to the SSA office... they got a gaurd to show you the way out if ins you mouth off ... for sure... hang in there.. they gonna try to discourage you every way they can... Oh my your puppy is sure giving you a run for it isn't he. I guess I'm lucky that I have two of them and they sort of help keep each other out of to much trouble. Mine mostly chew on an old boot and Johnny cat (he's sick right now and not in the mood to play which is driving them nuts).
Mine keep running up to Winter's which is to close to the road for my comfort but they love the big dogs. Course the big dogs have taken them off for unauthorized runs and gotten all of them in trouble from both of us.
I'm still dealing wiht the poo in the dining room most mornings otherwise they are good about going out. That won't last long wiht them getting so big they can barely squeeze through the cat door. The "good" news is it's getting cold enough I'll have to be up every couple of hours to feed the wood stove and can let them out while I'm at it.
Sorry your having such trouble with the SSA people. I thought there was a way you could do part of the filing online then give them a call to finish up. When Neal got his disability it seemed I filled out tons of paperwork but never actualy talked to anyone until they were ready to approve things, been so long ago I'm a little fuzzy, just know I was so amazed at how easily it all went after the warnings and horror stories from friends who'd been there before us. Litte Toffee is a handful. My mom had a puppy like that, she kept showing him he was not the pack leader and finally he gave in. It was not easy. I actually spoil dogs too much and would have never been as faithful as my mom was to the chore. They are so cute with their bad behavior and all.

Lol! It sounds as if you have the most mischeiveous pup of all! What a handful! I am sorry but I couldn't help but laugh at his adventures!! Hope you are not so sore tomorrow and take care....
