About Me
I used to be a quality supervisor with 80+ people under me and responsible for Millions a month of production, married 34 yrs., 3 children, I am recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and before this I was just told I was crazy and there was nothing wrong with me. I have not been able to hold a full time job in 5 years and it is even difficult for me to hold a part time job. I am self employed and do home shows but it is becoming increasingly impossible for me to even do that. I am just so exhausted aftreward and then I pay for it in pain for the next 2 days. It is becoming not worth it anymore to be in that much more pain because I did the shows.
Interests
I used to bowl, play darts, play volleyball, play frisbee golf, walk, hike, bike for enjoyment and I loved laser tag. Now I watch movies, play board games, gameboy, computer games and read but I can't sit for more than a half an hour or so at a time. I get too stiff.

Close Fibromyalgia
Fibro fog so bad, thought I had Alzheimer's. Severe memory issues in 1998, but no one believed me, not Dr.'s or family. Diagnosed in Feb. of 2007 with fibro. Think I have had it since I was 16 (37 yrs ago) from a bad car accident. The doc's and family all told me it was in my head, and I believed them after hearing it that much. Bad attitude towards Dr.s from it, along with being un or mis diagnosed most of life. Young forgetful mind, feels like old body a lot of the days.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Doc put me back on 30 MG to add to my zoloft, off the zoloft now and on the Elavil with the cymbalta.
- Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
- Did it 3x's a week for first 10 weeks, Too much. Cut back to 2x's, for next 10 weeks, better. Exhausted afterwards.
- Aromatherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I have relaxing aroma in there right now and I was falling asleep faster but that stopped after 3 weeks.
- Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
- Seems to help
- Clonazepam Working / Worked
- For sleep I take two and then I take 1 about 2:00 in the afternoon to help deal with the daily issues.
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Doc put me back on 30 MG to add to my zoloft, off the zoloft now and on the Elavil with the cymbalta.
- Effexor Not Working
- Kids said I was like a Zombie on this.
- Elavil Working / Worked
- I've been on it quite a while now and it seems to help, especially break through pain.
- Heat Working / Worked
- Only if it's moist heat and only on some places on my body, knees and feet.
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- Been on this for almost 5 years. Somedays even this doesn't touch the pain and it doesn't last long enough and my doctor will only give me 15 per month.
- Lyrica Too Soon to Tell
- works slightly better than Gabapentin for fibro, less pain breakthroughs of the MS
- Massage Working / Worked
- I get a hour long massage every week and this is one of the things that has helped me the most.
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- On this a few months but had a lot of breakthrough pain. Switched to lyrica.
- Physical Exercise Working / Worked
- Try and take daily walks, use stretching and relaxation DVD from Oregaon Fibro Ass. Bought a recumbant bike and that seems to loosen up my legs enough that I can get up and walk half way normal.
- Physical Therapy Not Working
- This was the worst thing I could have done, but maybe it was because of the therapist (sadist) who didn't know squat about fibro and claimed he did.
- Tai Chi Somewhat Helpful
- Relaxes me but my balance is so bad, I'm afraid I will fall and break something.
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- Back off of this, fine for the depression part, but doesn't mix with my other meds and amatriptyline. Need to treat the fibro or the depression will never get better. (My opinion)
Open Arthritis
Treatments
- Celebrex Working / Worked
- Worked but doctor pulled me off due to problems with it and Vioxx.
- Glucosamine/Chondroitin Somewhat Helpful
- I really can't tell the difference when I take it and when I don't .
- Ibuprofen Not Working
- might as well take nothing
- Lodine Working / Worked
- Works better than Meloxicam for me
- Tylenol Not Working
- Might as well take nothing and now liver enzymes are elevated
Open Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have been on anti-depressants for over 9 years. For many years some of the meds worked and then stopped, so I was switched to many different ones. I have a lot of other health issues, along with the passing of my Dad, having to put my mother in a nursing home due to Alzheimer's, menopause, children leaving home, a very stressful job, marraige problems, and then getting downsized all in the same year, so who wouldn't be depressed. LOL I do have a wonderful psychologist now.
Treatments
- Effexor Working / Worked
- Children said it made me like a zombie.
- Lexapro Not Working
- I don't think the dosage was high enough
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- As long as you find the right one.
- Wellbutrin Not Working
- Made no difference
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- Dr.'s took me off because when the dosagae was upped I stopped urinating. Rare side effect.
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- Back on it again because it seemed to work for the longest time but are still adjusting dosages.
- Remeron Working / Worked
- Worked for almost a year and it felt like I built up a resiistance.
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- Worked for maybe 5 years before it stopped.
Open Diabetes Type 2
I was diagnosed with diabetes 4 yrs ago. My sugar was at 597 when diagnosed. 4 yrs later and 60lbs less, I control it with diet only now.
Treatments
- Metformin Working / Worked
- went from 2 per day, to 1 per day, to 1 every other day (as long as I exercised), to controlling it with diet and exercise, to controlling it with almost only diet
- Insulin (Regular and NPH) Working / Worked
- Was on them until I lost about 40 lbs.
Open Insomnia
I have had a problem getting asleep for years and then that went away and now I have a problem staying asleep. I wake after 4 hours for good and several times in between there. Thanks to a wonderful Psychiatrist he found this mix below that works for me, at least so far. I have been sleeping 8-10 hours a night for the last month, for the first time in years. Now I'm not sure what is going on cause I can't fall asleep but I do stay asleep. If its not one its the other.
Treatments
- Ambien Not Working
- Didn't keep me asleep
- Trazodone Somewhat Helpful
- Got me from 2 hours of sleep a night to 4
- Cyproheptadine Working / Worked
- I take 1 4MG tab of these at bedtime along with 2 1M tabs Clonazepam
- Clonazepam Working / Worked
- I take 2 1M tabs with the Cyproheptadine at bedtime and am finally sleeping more thn 4 hours and sleeping straight through.
Open Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Type: Seconday Progressive MSIn Oct. I was diagnnosed with with probable MS. I know very little about it but am trying to research it. Sometimes I can't tell if it's from my MS or fibro, so many overlaps.
Treatments
- Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
- Works great for my fibro but makes my MS feel worse.
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- 2400MG but still have burning and tingling in legs and arms which have now become full blown muscle spasms and they are all over my body. Doubled up on my amitriptoline to help them from returning and its not working. Ice packs are the only thing that works.
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- Causes less break through pain than anything else.
