a beautiful sunny burgh day! and the pittsburgh penguins are clawing their way back in the fight for the stanley cup! goooooOOO PENS! my hip feels a little better today and my foot feels pretty good also. jd and i are both off today...a rarity to be off together, so we are hitting the afternoon matinee, indiana jones movie. i love those big sweeping adventure movies. we'll see if he can stay awake, since he was up all nite at work! i took two extra strength aspirin w/my coffee this morning. took the edge of my hip pain. it just came outta nowhere last evening...a typical arthur trick! i can only imagine how bad it would be w/out humira! i didn't sleep much of course. i am getting ready to get going on my bathroom remodel. i have a very tiny bathroom on my first floor. but it is the main bathroom in the house. some decisions to make were whether to keep the bathroom in its original tiny footprint and just upgrade it from the fifties, or to take the office next to it and make the whole bathroom much larger. i have decided to use the original bathroom space. partly because the office functions for me as a bedroom when i am having difficulty w/my ra. it enables me to sleep on the first floor and be right near the bathroom. i don't think i could afford to give that up, as it would mean being upstairs every nite and w/no bathroom up there it would just be too hard. then the next decision was whether or not to leave the area as a tub/shower or just make the tub area one big shower stall. with a seat built into it. i like the idea of one big shower, but the allure of a jetted tub may be to much fo me,lol...one big shower w/glass doors to the floor would definitely make the bathroom look bigger tho. and as we get older, it would make it easier to shower rather than step up over the edge of the tub. we will see about that one. anyway, can you tell i have had too much coffee already?lol...i am SO rambling! anyway the bathroom floor and shower will be done in a tan colored tile that looks like a piece of linen fabric. then accents behind the vanity sink and in the shower area w/ glass tile in a mix of pale clear colors that all blend so well together. its the bling in the bath!lol...gotta have the bling! i guess its such a small space but i still want people to walk in and have that wow factor w/a spa feeling....well, i am sure i have bored you all enough! have a good one and i'll take any suggestion you have or feedback you give on the bath! love yinz...janey

Yes, I can understand your decision to keep the office so that you have a room near a bathroom when you need to sleep alone. I would like to have both a bath and a shower, and thankfully when we built this we were able to make it big enough to do that. But as you say as you do get older stepping over the side of a bath is not easy and also it is so easy to slip when you are doing that.
I will vote for the big shower. Hope you enjoy the movie.

I redid my main bathroom about 4 years ago. I tiled to the ceiling and also the tub enclosure. I purchased an "air tub" which I got to take as a write off at tax time for my RA. It doesn't have those hard jets that can hurt, instead the bottom of the tub has tiny perforations around it. You turn on the timer and the water and it is like you are in a vat of boiling water. So relaxing and it feels good and need hurts. I got one of those tub pillows and I turn on the lights from the tub and it is like I am in heavan. Funny but it has become Jack's weekend relaxation ritual and the tub was purchased for me. You can find them at Lowe's, I got mine at home expo, they are more expensive than jetted tubs, but well worth the price. Check them out. You can probably also see one on display at a fine bath remodel store in your area. The other nice thing is that it has built in handles to hold onto to get in and out. The tub is really deep and I cannot express how happy I am am we invested the money! Enjoy the Indie Movie, it is non stop entertainment and you feel like it wasworth the price of admission! love you, marcia

I remodeled my bathroom 2 years ago. It had the original 1920s fixtures, the sink was so low I had to bend over to wash my hands lol. I went with a cream/orangish-tan/burnt-sienna kind of rag washed look porcelain tiles on the floor and in the tub/shower. I put in a honey toned birch cabinet with 6 drawers heaven! I put in a 3 panel mirror med cabinet no frame and all the metal in the room is a combo of silver and gold. It took me forever to find the exact everything I wanted, lol. Poor Bob he schlepped behind me looking at everything before I could make up my mind. The only regret I have is that I put in a regular tub instead of a jacuzzi. So now, if I - no, when I win the lotto I will put in a master bath with a jacuzzi on my second floor master bedroom (neither of which exists...yet lol). Until then, I can only dream. I turned my middle bedroom into an office for me. I bought a real comfy recliner for those goldilocks nights, but I wish I had another bed that I could sleep in sometimes when I'm restless. So I wouldn't recommend losing that luxery. Have fun! lov eyou jilly

About 4 years ago we started remodeling every room in our whole house! What a project! The bathrooms and the kitchen make the biggest impact, I think! It sounds to me like you made the best decision about staying with the original bathroom and keeping the guest bedroom for when your RA is acting up! Your tile sounds very pretty and you can never have enough BLING!!! When you get it all finished, please post a picture for all of us to see! Whatever you decide on decorating, I know it will be gorgeous! Enjoy yourself! Hope that hip starts feeling better. Take care and sweet hugs, Jami

gosh I have a big tub in the master bath, and never use it! Can;t get in and out of it , it just gets dusty, isn't that bad? lol I think you made a good decision on keeping things the same. AS you get more "mature", you will be glad you have all that downstairs. hope that hips quits giving you grief! hugs sandy

Yeah, I think you definately need that office and stuff but the remodeling sounds fun and pretty. We added a bath to our house last year and went with really earthy colors too, we also got one of those cool above the counter bowls for the sink, you should look at those, they are cool. We tried to do the bathroom to look like a spa and of course we added the closet sauna-which is getting close to completion!! Ugh... slow down on the java MA!! J/k I love you and you're rambling...xoxo J
