You were created in the Image of God and given dominion as such on Earth, the enemy of Our God has desired to assume the throne of Our Creator. In the Garden of Eden, the event at the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil, the enemy takes the opportunity to discover an opening into man's abilities. The enemy uses the strategy of suggestion, the intellect and thinking process... good & evil intermingled becomes a deception, a distortion. So what is it that thru-out the centuries mankind has, and you as an individual have, that Our God's enemy wants so much from us... consider this:

Our God spoke the universe into existence, Genesis 1:3 (paraphrased) And God said, "let there be light" and there was light. The power of creation thru His spoken Words!

You have been made in His Image and have been given gifts/talents/skills in the natural and the Spiritual realm, one of them is mentioned in proverbs, the power of the tongue, your words have a quality as those of Your Creator. The power to bring about things by what you speak... for the student of Psychology, it is taught that positive affirmations bring about change, and cautions are made about using negative statements that can become self-fullfilling prophesies...

The enemy wants thru suggestion to control the power in your words, and has been in this struggle to gain ground since the fall of man.

Prayer is your alliance with God, the sharing of words... being in agreement with Our Lord for the creation of a path. The intentions of God for you are Good, see Jeremiah 29:11

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."   John 15:7

The Armour of God, in ephesians 6, describes the weapons of this warfare... scripture is your sword... when the enemy approaches you with a suggestion,  swing your sword... "Jesus said", "The Lord said", "God said", "The Great I Am said", "The Word of God says", phrases, praises, and prayer. Jesus, Our Savior, stated "It is written".
