Journal Entry for May 23, 2007 Mood

This is not one of my better entries.....sorry
Ok, it's now May 23rd, I am writing this in hopes that this makes me feel better or if someone out there has gone thru the same thing and can help!?
First I guess is that I ran out of Chantix. Called my dr. and make a long story short, it's been to long since I have seen them and cannot get in til next week!!! No meds until then either. My surgeon can't help because it doesn't have anything to do with my back....ok...should I just start smoking again????
Yesterday was great with my back....Today, SUCKS! All I did was walk around, which after 5 weeks since surgery I should be able too. I have been in pain since yesterday afternoon! Now what? I know it is probally 2 steps forward and 1 step back and it is a long process but if I am not back to work by June 5th I can lose my postion at work because they have to hold it for 12 weeks by law after that I don't know what I am going to do. They say they wouldn't do that to me but does anyone "REALLY, REALLY" trust their employer????
NOON. I have not had a smoke, I want one really bad but I'm trying. Without any medicine to help with the cravings. The foot and leg are still numb and start hurting after the meds wear off, lets hope it's just overuse again. Where does that leave me with work next week though?

First, can you call the doctor that gave it to you? I had the same problems with other doctor's too. Tell the doctor that gave it to you that you NEED a refill. I can NOT see a reason why they wouldn't give you at least one more refill. If not, go get the patch or gum but don't start smoking because you will have to quit all over and that is HELL. That is what is keeping me from starting again, I don't want to quit all over again. My mom was complaining about how she gained 4 lbs over the past 2 weeks and is bloated. I told her it is better than lung cancer, which we have lived through. Regarding your job, I think it depends on your position. I'm pretty sure that they can't let you go if they fill your position. They know you have had back surgery so they have to respect the fact that is a real medical problem. Can you do any of your work from home? But....never trust an employer. I'm thinking that they would have said something about if you don't come back by June 5th that they would have to fill it though. Usually they give a heads up before they do it. I saw that at my job. They gave someone a letter with options - so that is what I'm sure they would do with you. For today don't think about it because nothing is going to happen today right? I worry about everything and realized if there is nothing I can do about something that hasn't happened yet I don't waste time stressing. I can stress all night with my mind racing a million miles per hour and then I don't sleep and for what, usually nothing. Try to enjoy your day today and work on your prescription if you can't get it just come up with a game plan. Should something happen and you do slip, please know no one will be upset. A lot of people worry about that. Here is a hug for you - hang in there ok.

Hi there.. I sorry you are in pain. I have had 4 cervical disc surgeries on my neck and 3 lumbar disc surgeries on my back. My last surgery was 2/13/07 and I am still in unbearable pain. I started going to a pain doctor last week for some help. Best thing I could have done. Doctors will never be honest with their patients. When I asked my doc if the pain will go away his response was "its in gods hands" He then took another xray because the pain was so bad and he told me my spine was beautiful. When I went to the pain doc he told me my back was a mess with ddd arthritis, stenosis and spondylosis. He put me on a duragesic patch and gave me another epidural. At least the pain is bearable now. The employer is another story. I was on fmla for my surgery and unable to go back to work in 90 days. After another 90 days passed they terminated me. It all depends on the type of person you work for.
Sorry to hear you are having these same issues. If you want to keep talking I would love to hear from you.
