01/20/08Day one agaaaaaaaaain!!!I am so sick of starting over!!! It pisses me off! I had 8 or 9 days, Then …
I made it through another day of therapy. It is not fun, especially knowing that I am going through this torture just to get to a diagnosis. With the pain that this is causing, I can't imagine that it is helping much.
Today, I was shown some new exercises. I did most of them sitting down at least.
I worked a pulley...not too bad
pulled on some long rubber tubes...not too good
I pedalled forwards and backwards with my hands...no problems
scrubbed a hand brush (for cleaning carpets) around in a figure 8..ok
scrubbed front to back...not good
then I lifted these really heavy weights...1 pound :)...still doing good
Then I worked on this big machine like they have in the fitness centers. I pulled this bar down from way up high to my chest...getting pretty sore now
Finally finished up on a bike with the handles that move front to back...this one did me in.
Finally, the wonderfully painful ice treatment. This followed by the ultrasound and deep tissue shock waves. This helped a little, but the best part was the massage. She worked my shoulder pretty good. I'm sure the Bio-freeze (like Bengay) helped too.
The big problem with all this.......Within an hour of getting home, my shoulders hurts extremely bad and is worthless for a day and a half. Just counting the days until my fourth treatment...2 days left. I think on Monday I am going to ask Doc Drass for something for the pain. The advil isn't cutting it anymore. :(
OH...and I did plan ahead and used my inhaler before I went into the center for treatment. That was a good thing too, because I don't think I could have handled the Bio-freeze smell without it.
Off to work....glad it's Friday!

Its late and cold the high today did not even reach freezing. As the night gets later the colder it gets and the more …
Today is way better than yesterday. Had some anxiousness this morning and woke with night sweats last night, but …
Good thinking on the inhaler. You don't need to complicate matters. At least you got a massage out of it.
When I was suffering back spasms when I was young(er),I was being treated at an industrial clinic. They ended my treatments with a massage with some deep heat thing. My first few visits, my therapist was a pretty young thing. However I think they thought I was enjoying it too much. My last visit was with Helga, the former East German shot putter. I would not have minded her too much but I was intimidated that her mustache was better than mine.
I'd ask for ome pain killers too. Why hurt when you don't need too?
I hope you feel better.

I loved reading your description of PT. Hang in there...it can be a torture chamber but hoping they are getting your muscles mobilized and this will help in the long run. Are you doing your home program? This is really the most important part of PT. Take care!!! Hope you feel better soon, real soon.

Rona....yes I am doing the home therapy even though it is not helping in my opinion. I know it takes time for things to heal, but I don't think this is the right route to take at this time. I truly feel that the therapy is actually making it worse. That is one of the things I plan on talking to my Doctor about on Monday. I believe therapy is a good thing, but only at the right time.
Tom,
Yes, the massage was a good thing. You would like this place too...lots of young pretty things for you to look at :) I haven't seen any men that work there yet. This is actually good for me though. I feel very uncomfortable having another man give me any type of massage. When I had my heel spur surgery, I had a young good looking guy massaging my feet and it was a little uncomfortable. I guess over time I could get used to it though :)
