Got a letter from Ken today. I wasn't expecting it, but I sure was glad to get it. I am a little anxiouus tonight …
I found out today that my job is investigating everyone who is on FMLA. They want to see if there is a trend to when we take FMLA days off. I'm not too sure what they are going to do if they "find" any discrepancies. For me, I have called off or went home early on every day of the week. I'm sure they are going to see a trend...My asthma/allergy doc is in my town on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So, if I don't feel well, I generally have my appointments on Thursdays. If I go in for a treatment, I can't muster up the energy to work that night. They will see that most of my sick days are for Thursdays. Who cares...let them try something , I ain't scared
.
I did finally figure out why my mind has been so sluggish. When I went to work tonight, I checked my Oxygen levels. They were a bit low, not too scary but enough to cause some trouble. Towards the end of the might they were back up to 99%. I can feel them going down again though. It started just before I left work. A nice big coughing fit. Now I have the shortness of breath again and the back pains are there too. My buddies
It seems the coughing fits are getting stronger. I can't seem to et any control over them either. I'm sure they could hear me coughing down the hall. I'm hoping to avoid a trip to the docs, but I don't know for how long. I try not to push it, but I also try to avoid the docs office if at all possible. I'm glad we have a new walkin clinic down the road though. I might give them a try and see how the docs there are.
Waiting for the inhaler to kick in and then I'm off to bed.

i might be done with this coughing problem but i'm not sure
Well, this is more of a sob story than a journal entry. I hav been really poorly over the past few days. It started off …
Gosh Robin, please take care. This doesn't sounds good to be in the low yellow range. Get to a doctor if you think you must. Take care and hoping you feel better soon.

Many Administrators are idiots. They are always so afraid that someone may be getting over on the system. I was a midlevel supervisor for many years at the jail and we were always advised to check for "patterns" for absenteeism. Since most of our line officers had to work on the weekends they couldn't help but set patterns. Our place had us note if an officer called in sick on a weekend or on a day in conjunction with his days off. If for instance an officer's off days were Tues-Wed, he couldn't call off on Sat or Sun (weekend) or Mon or Thurs (Adjacent to off days). The only day he could call off was on Friday...and then only if he didn't do it too often or that would become a pattern. I pointed this out to our Director and he wasn't interested. Basically they are just trying to make it hard to take time off. Even if you have family leave papers duly made out and endorsed by your doctors, some administrators think you have found a way to abuse the"system".
While not usually big on payback, I sometimes wish that those administrators who were clueless would have had an opportunity to "abuse" the system for the same reasons we do. Idiots.
I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well. Maybe your gastro guy can give you some relief there. I hope so.
Feel better,
Tom

My 3 bosses were afraid that once I had the FMLA papers filled out that I would just call of whenever I felt like it. They are better now though. They have seen me have an attack at work and it kind of scared them a bit. My big manager was afraid if he left me alone I would die in the office. I told him not to worry, I wouldn't dare die while still on the clock :)
Now when I call off or go home, they mostly just say ok. They really don't have any other choice.

Tom,
I hope so...I'm getting pretty worn out. Next week I'll be choosing a new pulmo doc. Let's see how long it takes to get in to see him/her. It takes so darn long to get the first appointment.
