Im talking to Michael on the phone. Apparently I woke him up D:
This will be a long one but I need to vent and cry about this week. Okay, so I had my first Humira shot on the 27th of May-about 3-4 days later I had this horrible, sharp pain under my right breast. It was getting worse daily, especially when I took a deep breath, I never felt anything like it before. So on Wednesday the 4th I went to my PCP-he said he thought it could be my liver and I need to lose weight, duh, but I was not convinced. Thursday a.m. I woke up and it was all the way through my back and up my shoulder, I was having lots of trouble breathing. I woke Michael up and told him I would drive myself to the hospital. I NEVER GO TO THE HOSPITAL, so I knew it was bad. They took a chest xray, cat scan with iodine and gave me morphine. I was there several hours in excruciating pain, they thought it could be a blood clot, they eventually said it was pleurisy and gave me Vicodin for the pain. That morning Michael had to leave for San Diego where he was best man in a wedding, I could not go and wouldn't let him skip it. So I had to take care of the baby basically by myself until this a.m.
In the meantime the pain was still there but getting a little better daily but I could not go more than 6 hours without the Vicodin.
This morning I woke up and I was covered in hives, huge round bumps and small itchy things, my face swelled up too- I started crying and Ian came over to me and said "Don't be afraid you're a good brother".. what?! I had to laugh! Michael woke up and said what's wrong, I said" I'm so sick and nobody cares!" (because he and my mother were both still asleep at 10:00a.m. and I was left taking care of Ian again by myself, since he woke up at 7) I was dizzy and tired. He made me feel better hugging me and stuff. Then I decided I had to go back to the Doctor for a shot of steroids to help this mess. He said you can have a bad reaction from any drug even Humira, up to 10 days later-it's called delayed allergic hypersensitivity.
And/or I may have been allergic to the iodine . I still feel like absolute crap and Michael is back but has to work tonight until tomorrow a.m. Then he'll be off for 3 days but I have to go to work!! Dr. said he hadn't seen a reaction like mine in a long time, he just sat there and shook his head over and over....
I don't know what to do about the Humira, right now I never want to see another drug of any kind-I would rather go to a Shaman or something..I highly doubt I will be taking it again. I am so screwed up right now. I have to take 5 days worth of steroids to get rid of this rash, I don't even see a difference yet from this shot this morning.
Sorry I haven't writen in any journals this week, I'll catch up when I'm back amongst the living!! I love you guys...

What a horrible experience. I thought my experience with my first dose of MTX was nasty...you really had it, or have it bad. I hope you feel better asap!

OMG JJ, this is awful I wish I was nearby to come and help you out with Ian. First pleuresy, then hives, how awful for you and itchy! Did he give soomething for the itch? You may have had a reaction because Humira is injected directly to your system, orlike you said maybe it was iodine they used i ER for the scan. At any rate I am hoping you feel better soon. Sending you the biggest hugs possible! love Auntie M

Little buddy!!! I'm so sorry you are in so much pain!! Don't let this get the best of you!! Seems like your system is so sensitive to meds.- Remember Michael loves you and like most men, he doesn't think about you taking care of the baby because you have always done it. It makes them seem awful(been there and done that! HA)- Life is not fair. No one should have RA. You look ok so people treat you like you're a "whiney butt"!! - You take care. Have you in my thoughts and prayers every day!!

You poor thing. That's awful! I sure hope the steroids kick in and help you feel better. Bizemomm has a point about the Iodine. Hope the dr is able to figure it out and that things get better soon. Lot of hugs, Dawn

Oh geez. That sucks! Please just tell your husband how bad you need help! Mine never understands until I am very blunt about what I want him to do. (Marcia convinced me to do it, and she is right!) Hope you are better soon! April

Oh you poor sweety I am so sorry you had to go thru this! Is there any way they can easily tell which one you had the reaction to? I have heard that a lot of people have a reaction to iodine. I hope it's not the Humira because it has helped me so much. Good luck sweety, I hope you get it straightened out...hugs jilly
