About Me
I am currently on long term disability suffering with severe depression. I have been a Funeral Director for the past 23 years which makes returning to work that much more difficult. I have wonderful supportive parents, 2 brothers along with a niece 6 years old and a nephew who just turned 1. I have coached baseball and ringette for the past 27 years. I also have a beautiful cat named "Hogan" who I don't know what i'd do without. I have lived in the city of Hamilton for the past 42 years.
Interests
My wonderful family, watching sunsets on the Beach Strip, rollerblading, cycling, walks at a favourite park down by the bay, campfires, watching anything "Star Trek", courtroom dramas and true life stories. I love country music and anything 50's. I play a little bit of both piano and guitar. I enjoy helping people and I love any kind of animal.

Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have suffered from major depression since 2004. I have tried at least 8 medications and a combination of medications over the past 3 years with no success. I am now taking a drug called "Parnate" which is a "Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor" (MAOI for short). I do have to follow a special diet as there is a chemical in many foods called Tyramine that can elevate blood pressure when taking this particular drug.
Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
- Desipramine Somewhat Helpful
- Made me perspire to a point where people thought I was sick. It also caused some shakiness in my hands and a small amount of short term memory loss.
- Effexor Not Working
- I had no side effects from this medication.
- Electroconvulsive therapy Not Working
- I had 12 treatments of E.C.T. with no success. It was painless and certainly worth giving it a try considering I was not responding to any medications.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Prozac Not Working
- I had no side effects from this medication.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- I have just started my 20th week of Psychotherapy that requires me to complete a couple of exercises each session. I do believe that this can work.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
