Journal Entry for June 30, 2008 Mood

My nuerologist says that I am no longer relapsing/remitting but that I am progressive with relapses.  What does that mean ?  How is that different from regular progressive MS ?  What does this mean for me healthwise ?

I need a big, old hug.  Actually, my brain needs a big, old hug so it will stop trying to kill itself!

Here is the Huge Hugs ...Lots of them....your brain needs to rest. Progressive means that is is getting worse, it is progressing, however, you have relapses from time to time that are worse. I have secondary Primary Progressive and that generally means downhill unless they find a therapy that will stop the progression, it very seldom gets better, but there have been cases where it can get better. What type of therapy are you on? What did the Dr say as far as other therapies for you. Really this is not super bad news. It just means you are having some major attacks from time to time. Hang in there, Smile and Stay Positive, I know you can beat this MS...We all have to stick together and fight and not lay down. Hugs and Love

I'm going off Betaseron and am looking to start either Tysabri or Novantron and then on to Copaxon, sorry about the spelling. He also has a couple of experimental therapies and drug trials that I can do but they really are for R/R MS patients and not for progressive.

you need to be strong. As things start getting rough you need to push some more. You get some rest and take every day as it hits you.
