About Me
I worked as a nurse for twenty years before a severe head injury caused enough memory problems I didn't want to be responsible for patient care any longer. Sixteen years ago my husband and I realized a life long dream of mine to move to Alaska and build our own home in the "wilderness". We have ten children but only one living in state and our lives are pretty isolated for the most part.

For us too Georgia this has been happening. So many this last year and people our age and you're right we don't think of ourselves as being that old, but we are. Although, if you look at the obits in the papers, it's not full of people our age but people ini their 80's and 90's. Just a lot of our friends and parents of our friends have been passing on. Close Alzheimer's Disease
About two years ago I started noticing changes in my husbands behavior, he has been depressed most of his life but quiet and gentle. Then he started getting more confused and adgitated. He also seemed to be getting physicaly weaker (he is only 54. I sought treatment for his high blood pressure and then saw his psychiatrist about his behavior. He was started on aricept wiht slight improvement, then to namenda with more improvement but the last couple of weeks he has become very unpredictable.
Treatments
Close Interracial Relationships
I am of Celtic origens and my husband is a real mix of races. Two of our sons are married to Mexican women, one has a Japanese wife. Many neices and nephews are in mixed race marriages. For some this has been a problem for others it hasn't.
Open Depression
I have battled with depresson off and on most of my life and most of that time I did not take meds for it. It's mainly been the last couple of years as I've delt with my husbands depression and now his Alzheimers that I've found the usualy coping methods just weren't working for me any longer.
Treatments
- Effexor Not Working
- Only took a couple of days and I experienced severe abdominal pain wiht this drug.
- Paxil Somewhat Helpful
- Took this after a severe head injury, seemed to help but when I took enough to help depression it seemed to be to much.
- Prozac Working / Worked
- I've been on prozac for a couple of months now and it has been helping quite a bit, at least I can get through most days without going through a crying jag or having a period of rage.
