Monday, May 12, 2008 | A General Update story

Well here I am ,I had to run Mom and Dad to my doctor today, and then sit in on there consultation. It is the first time my parents have been to a real doctor since my older brother was born.My Dad thinks all medical doctors are just pill pushers trying to get rich off of the problems of others(he actually thinks they are all quacks). But I did get them to go and they are actually going to go back in 2 weeks.Mom still has to go to the doctor that did the surgery on her hip but he knows what is going on with her memory loss,I just hope that I can get the doc`s to understand that it a really big problem. And going through the surgery didn`t help matters much. While she was in the hospital she did and said a bunch of things that the doctors took a big notice of ,like trying to walk out and wondering how she got there in the first place. And Dad trying to stay with her because he thought she couldn`t cope without him being there.I think after the third day that Dad finally decided that there was more wrong with Mom that he thought.I think that all of the time he has been in denile about just how big a problem Mom really has.My doc actually talked to both of them about what kind of medicines are out there and that she would see exactly what kinds of test the hospital had taken on her,and then the doc wants to see her agian in 2 weeks and maybe then Mom will get some real help.I know that vitamins and minerals and herbs are a good thing but you also need to go to the doctor when something is not working right and yes that means if your memory is going south on you then it is time to try something ,anything and that includes going to someone that has a degree in medicine even if you think that you know what is best for you.I would think that we should look at it like this,I don`t know didly squat about the human body except what I was taught in Biology class in high school and the doctors have taken that and went like fourteen major steps forward in learning what does what in the human body and in some cases they actually know what works for us to get better and what will make us worse so why would I with my loly High School deploma and my one year of VOTECH try and guess what my body needs or better yet what makes it work at it`s best. And my MOM and Dad have even less knowledge from school than I do.I know they are smart but common sence can only take you so far and then you have to rely on others that have been trained to understand what is going on with our bodies. Most doctors that I know of have been to college for at least 8 years and then they have taken Pre-Med before that and even after the get into the field as interns they are still being taught, and the really good ones keep learning even while they are practicing medicine.

I guess I have writtten a book ,maybe I should get it published so then my parents will read it,they seem to had read almost every book on just about everything under the sun except how to let doctors do there jobs and leave the self healing to those that actually can.
