I finally understand a verbal stim from 3 years ago Mood
Monday, July 7, 2008 | A Funny story

The other day my son was on the computer and he came to get me to help him with something online. And the way he got my attention was with a verbal stim he used to say a long time ago, but hasn't recently. And it sounds like this, " a lisa good s-vimmin'"

I always figured the "lisa" part was referring to a friend of mine, or to a therapist we brought him to for a play group on the weekend. And I always thought the "s-vimmin'" had to do with swimming, since he's been taking lessons for years.

So I thought it was strange that he would use this verbal stim to get my attention for the computer. So I asked him to repeat, which he did. But he asked me to "help me, lisa goo s-vimmin"

WTF!

So I get to the computer and he has the pbskids.org site up and the Mr. Rogers show "song-list" up and he asked me again......

OMG!!!!

"It's such a Good Feeling" is the name of his favorite Mr. Rogers song, and he wanted help playing the music, he wanted to hear the song!

He's been saying "It's such a good feeling" for years And I thought it was just a verbal stim....

So for all the parents out there who think their kid is saying gibberish. Time and time again he proves to me that he's not, I'm just the moron who can't figure him out. I'm the one with the comprehension issues! LoL!

It doesn't help that he mumbles quite often and isn't sure he's saying things correctly and won't always repeat them, because he's afraid of being wrong.

Yippee. We amaze ourselves when we finally figure things out but we're smarter than we think. I'm glad for your son that you figured it out.

what a wonderful surprise. My son says" Easy squeezy, lemony sneezy" So if you can figure that out I'd love it! SO far no luck.
