is feeling Good
I'm a former SELF magazine editor who now just types with one hand and receives monthly disability. I had to move from Manhattan down to Southern Pines, NC where my family lives. I've been here 2 years now, live alone, and volunteer at the elementary school within walking distance to me since I cannot drive.

Dear Gabstud, The Beautiful Bijou suggested that I check out your story as you and I both have survived a TBI. Please feel free to check out my journals and profile. And yes, I am now ,more of an impulse shopper. Why not buy it, I might not be here tomorrow to buy it? LOLLOLLOL Eric
I couldn't help but notice what you wrote: "I'm a former SELF magazine editor who now just types with one hand and receives monthly disability." It made me sad to hear you say "now just types..." I wanted to send you a hug and tell you that you are just as important as a magazine editor, as you are doing what you are doing now :-) One day at a time... June
miss you, hope you are doing well.
Hello, How are you doing?
I was training for my first triathlon after doing several marathons and was on a 50 mile bike ride with my training partners and I somehow lost control and crashed, shattering my left elbow and denting my helmet, receiving TBI. I worked hard to be an editor at a New York City magazine and now it seems forever ended even after years of therapy. I'm now in a small southern town where I walk and volunteer my time. I wrote an article about my injury that appeared in August 2005 edition of SELF.
I too suffered from dizziness but thankfully found a therapy that helped at NYU. It was "vestibular" but they basically lead me through exercises that cured my problem with being upright and tracking things with my vision (I never knew they were so connected). Good luck with everything. I know for me, I never knew what and all the brain controlled...scary!
I really TRY to eat healthy and stay on top of nutrition news. In May 2002, I had a traumatic brain injury so ever since my exercise has MUCH declined. I really watch what I eat though and just got a new elliptical and hope to lose some weight with that and HEALTHY EATING!!
My aunt is battling cancer for the second time in her life and I hate to watch it but I'm filled with pride at how hared she fights it!
I'm on medicare at the young age of 31.
Think I suffer from this since I had head injury 6 years ago and still fight exhaustion on a daily basis.
