Journal Entry for September 19, 2007 Mood

What a great day I've had. Starting with my best friend Barry Manilow and his new CD. Hon called from work and took me to an early lunch and then we both went and got pedicures. We were like two kids, giggling the whole time.

Dropped Lily at the doggy salon and she got a great looking haircut. Now she and I are both having some rest time.

I stopped at the local antique store on the way home from lunch and bought a really cute silver and lapis ring ($12.95). It will probably tarnish and the stone will fall out but for today I love it!

I have to make a salad for guests at Sophie's birthday party. I wonder how much stuff to buy for 20 people? Cj got any idea? And can I shop in your garden?

Till later ...

You are more than WELCOME to shop my garden!!! I spent the entire day with peppers: cleaning, roasting, peeling, seeding... I did not have the heart after 5 hours to pickle them so they are saved in the fridge till tomorrow. A salad for 20 guests: do you still have tomatoes or are you too far north? Tonight, I had a wonderful arugula and tomato salad sprinkled with finely shredded mozzarella and asiago. Simple and totally YUMBO!!! I still have too many tomatoes and peppers which I will be packing in WalMart bags and dropping down the lane, I fear...

OK, all I can say about your day is that I'm INSANELY jealous!!! I have no good friend here who would appreciate a day of pedicures and lunch; how sad as that is something I used to do with my lovely friend, Wendy, who I fear has flown/moved to Colorado to join with her spirit. I have yet to secure a soulmate friend here in Coshocton... Maybe I need to be working harder for that though I think the MS deters my progress because I like my day to end at 6 p.m. (especially now that the sun is going down at 6:30 p.m.--YIKES! Not sure I'm ready for the darkness...).

My puppups would love to be dropped at a Doggie Salon though I fear they will be meeting the kitchen sink and back deck at MumTheBum's Schnauzer Grooming Salon yet this week... I was thinking about snowballs being drug in on my rug this winter. All I can say is Tootsies are VERY PERSONAL so it promises to be quite the seige for Schnauzers and their MumTheBum... (Been putting it off all week, but it must happen before the weather cools down--we've been blessed with Indian Summer...)

Hope all goes well with your birthday party. I would recommend veggies in a pasta salad though I've learn in the country it must be boring elbows--no Wacky Mac and colors our here, boring unitone only... xoxoxo Cj

PS: Is a colorful dish such a bad thing? You know, you eat with your eyes first, right?

Well, since you don't have a close friend and the one I met here is never around, I would like it if it could be you and me! I get an email every morning called "Charity Focus" and this morning is as follows:

    Fact of the Day:
'According to research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., having close friends you can count on has far-reaching benefits for your physical and mental health. A strong social network can be critical to helping you through the stress of tough times, whether you've had a bad day at work or a year filled with loss or chronic illness. Dr. Edward T. Creagan is a cancer specialist at the Mayo Clinic and the author of "How Not to Be My Patient: A Physician’s Secrets for Staying Healthy and Surviving any Diagnosis." He says a prescription of friendship can go a long way toward a healthy future. “Mounting evidence from sociologists, psychologists and medical researchers suggests that strong social support -- I like the term 'connectedness' -- can help a person live longer,” he said.'

Interesting huh? I don't know about you, but I am alone all day, except for Ms. Lily, and it really does get boring and lonely some days. Hell, I'll go to the grocery store just to have human contact.

And speaking of, I've decided to make a salad of lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, broccoli, zuccini and summer squash. If the red peppers aren't too expensive, I'll put one of those in also. I'll just make a lot and see what happens.

    Till later ...
