This the most boring subject I know, but it's assuming gigantic proportions in my life.

   Supermarket chic (middle-aged) told me - after my asking - that there's an excellent dentist in Merriden - the nearest large centre: she'd gone down to Perth (pop.1.5 million) to see dentist, but he refused to take out her wisdom teeth, unless she was under anesthetic in hosp.  She, like me, realized that meant serious money, so gave it a miss - tolerated the pressure & general discomffort - then moved here to live.  Few weeks later, one got infected - she got emerg. appt., - and he took out all 4 at once: fin the chair.  I told her about my bone outgrowth, and she thinks he'd do it for me.  So - since today is Anzac Day (v.v.holy day in Aust., & a public hol., when men actually get down on knees & pray) I must wait until Monday.  I think I should form a group for folk with serious gum problems: it sounds trivial - but it's the reson I lost most of mine - if you happen to be allergic to penicillin, and I am - it is an ongoing problem - even after the teeth have gone.  It was severely exacerbated (wow!) by my taking dilantin - drug used for mild forms of epilepsy: the fums can actually grow right over the teeth, so a dentist told me - he'd seen a case in Dental School.  OF COURSE I stopped taking dilantin: depekane was fine, but I put on 8 lbs. in 12 weeks & it wasn't slowing down (I was 6 lbs. underweight at the time, but was heading for a larger dress size, and that would not have been funny - my ex. wasn't the sort to throw money around, & didn't really believe I could have epilepsy). I've been without lower teeth for months now - apart from one eye tooth - left for strategic reasons.  I have had no back teeth for 9 years: the denture (partial, was made with titanium - the hooks made my front teeth ache) So that got thrown out - a wste of money. Within 3 years, the rest of my lower teeth snapped off - luckily, the nerves were dead, so it wasn't painful.  But old friend from Uni. days here, who moved to Adelaide, told me my face would fall in & I'd look "witchy" - this woman's a published author - so her description worried me.  And so it came to pass - I do look "witchy" - I need a MOUTH LIFT, as well as dentures!  I can't sue anyone:  In Australia it's bad form to complain, even if your obstetrician has left you with stuff inside your womb after delivery, and they won't give you painkillers, because they can't see anything wrong! Well, in that case I should have sued, I was in agony. But that's another story.  I think we need a oral disease site - or perhaps I've not found it yet!  If ther is one - someone, please let me know - I need some support here!  Regards & good health to all,  JaneD.
