    About Me

I am a licensed clinical social worker who has a hard time staying awake in my sessions with clients. The doctor recently diagnosed me with narcolepsy based on my sleep study. He has put me on provigal 200mg which helps some, but does not eliminate the problem. Now clients remark that I look tired, not that I am falling asleep. That is better. I have concerns about being able to hold my job if I don't get this under control.

      Treatments

      Provigil Working / Worked
This controls the daytime sleepiness to some extent. Though I still get tired and clients remark about this I do not go to sleep
      Effexor Working / Worked
I have been on effexor for depression for some time and am not sure what contribution it makes toward the narcolepsy. Right now the dosage is being reduced because my depression is so much better.
      Abilify Working / Worked
On 10 mg of abilify for a mood stabilizer. Am not sure what effect if any this has on my narcolepsy
    • Close Diabetes Type 2

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 7 or 8 mos ago and I still don't feel like I know much about it. I am joining diabetes web sites now to learn something. I also have narcolepsy and I am in the support group for that. I was just diagnosed with it last month.

      Treatments

      Dietary Modification Working / Worked
I think that the diet modification was responsible for my loss of 30 lbs. I think it helps a lot my A1C was 5.8 in June
      Metformin Working / Worked
Seems to be working really well.
      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
Still new at it and not going often enough. Am working on this
