About Me
I retired from the University of Tennessee as Thesis/Dissertation Consultant in 2000 to care for my mom who was living with us. She died in 2001 and I began working with wire, jump rings, beads and precious metal clay. I design and make jewelry and was looking forward to my husband's retirement in May 2008 so we could travel to shows together.

Close Brain Injury
In January 2008 my husband, who at 77 is still working as a middle-school counselor (a career spanning 50 years) fell at school on ice and suffered a TBI. With the help of our terrific children and home health care and his desire to get OK, he has progressed remarkably well. His motor skills are good but he has developed a severe tremor in his left hand (he is left-handed), is incontinent, and cannot initiate conversations, although he CAN respond often to questions.
Treatments
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- He has not had major depression or outbursts possibly because Lexapro helps
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- 4 children with their own families 2 local and 2 outoftown. The two local kiddles stayed with him in the hospital at night 58 days and I stayed with him during the day. Their help has made it possible for me to take care of him and watch him get better a tiny bit every day well ALMOST every day!
- Keppra Working / Worked
- He has had some seizures since coming home and Keppra seems to have either eliminated them or decreased their effect.
