About Me
My name is Tammy. I have been suffering with Fibromyalgia for 4 years now. I'm a mother of 3 children, who I adore with all my heart! I have a wonderful, loving husband who tries very hard to understand what I am going through. It took me awhile to cope with the disease and I still have a hard time, but I try not to dwell on it and I try to focus on things that make me happy. I try to find diversions to take me (my mind)away from the pain. It doesn't always work, but I sure give it a try!
Interests
MUSIC... I love to sing and I play piano, guitar, harmonica, clarinet and most any kind of woodwind by ear. I was born with the gift. I currently play keyboard and sing in a Country band. If it were not for the music, I would not be here today! I am a firm believer in music therapy!!! It does not take away the physical pain, but it sure helps me to release it in a positive way. It allows me to forget about the pain for a little while and that has been my escape! I like to crochet and quilt and sew. These are things I can do with my hands that don't require much physical ability. When I can't get out of bed, I just grap a crochet hook and thread and make something!

Close Fibromyalgia
I've had Fibromyalgia for 4 years now. It seems like a life time. When I was diagnosed and they told me there was no cure and no pain medicine, I just wanted to die!! I have 3 children and it has been a long hard road to get to where I'm at now! I never thought I'd be alive today! I could say so much more, but I'm new to this and I really don't know where to start!!
Treatments
- Cyclobenzaprine Working / Worked
- Flexaril helps me ALOT. I have muscle spasms all over my body and it DOES help!! The only side effect it gives me is heartburn and burning stomach :-(
- Cymbalta Somewhat Helpful
- It helped me with depression, but not the pain.. it's expensive! I didn't have many side effects.
- Elavil Not Working
- Elavil made me feel like I had a hangover everyday. It's hard to be a mother of 3 active children when your doped up!
- Heat Working / Worked
- I sleep with 2 heating pads! MY BEST FRIEND! I have a bed chair pillow thing that I go to several times during the day and I lay one of the heating pads across the back of it... it feels soooo good to my pain!!!
- Lyrica Not Working
- I had so many side effects that I quit taking it! I already felt bad enough, the side effects made it worse!
- Vitamin B12 Somewhat Helpful
- It didn't help with my pain, but it made me feel a little better as far as fatique.
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- After 3 years of suffering my dr. finally gave me Lortab 5.0It does NOT take away all of my pain but it sure does make my daily life alot better. Because of that my attitude and my desire for life has lifted ALOT
Close Chronic Pain
I have been in chronic pain for 4 years now, really longer than that, but diagonised with Fibromyalgia 4 yrs ago. I have suffered chronic pain since I was a child....
Treatments
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- I didn't have many side effects. It really helped me more with depression not pain.
- Flexeril Working / Worked
- It helps with muscle spasms but it makes me have heartburn and upset stomach. I'll take the side effects for the relief it gives me.
- Heat Working / Worked
- MY BEST FRIEND!! I use 2 of them.
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- It helps me some, not totally, but it makes my daily living much better.
- Lyrica Not Working
- gave me too many side effects.. I did not like it.
