After having my beautiful daughter (born in June 2006) I started having big time bowel problems. Diarrhea several times a day, with extreme abdominal pains, and urgency. I finally got in to see a GI doc, he started me on donnatal and that it sounded like I had IBS. After several months of no improvement I was switched over to Bentyl and nexium and had an upper scope to check my stomache. My doctor was still convinced that it was IBS. A few months later I passed some gallstones and needed to have my gallbladder removed. (maybe this was behind my symtoms) not a chance!!! My symptoms increased with even more urgency, fecal incontinence, and mucous stools. My husband was activated and we used the military insurance for health and I had to start fighting the system to get back in to see a specialist. About 3 months later (Jan 08) i made an appointment with my provider and told him that I couldn't do this any longer and that I had to see a GI doc. Lucky me, he found that I had H. Pylori and just needed some antibiotics. After treatment I would be "all better" 2 months later I found out that I had got pregnant when my husband came home for leave, we were estatic, everything was gonna be okay. But my symptoms continued to remain and increase. I started losing weight every week, concern enough for OBGYN to put in for the consult. NOW, finally got to see a GI doc, but I'm 6 months pregnant, need a colonoscopy, and most of the meds aren't safe for me to take while pregnant.. So hopefully a good plan will come together soon. With my current treatment being digestive advantage and an IBS med called hyomax, I still haven't found any relief and just wish for resolution with out jeopardizing the health of the baby on board!!!
