About Me
I am 64 years old; I have a pretty good sense of humor..I had four kids two sons and two daughters and I have 7 wonderful grandchildren. I was diagnosed with lupus ten+ years ago and here i thought I was just tired. I like people use to work in nursing homes as an aide when not working in the local county dog shelter or vets office..I love to help and take care of people and animals; I also was an EMT and Capt. of our local Med Team in our fire department. Boy, did those guys like taking orders from a woman..LOL..it went well. Now, i'm not as active of course but maybe it's time for me to access what i have around me personally in my own life and smell the roses; and somedays the skunk cabbage...I love life, laughter and the ability to be able to listen and not just talk; but hopefully to listen to others...we are all so busy anymore we just don't have time...well, now that gas has gone up can't go very far so we have more time....

- Effexor Working / Worked
- It seems to work well for me but i have built up a high tolerence for drugs over the years i dont abuse my prescriptions but i refuse to take the heavy duty ones..vicodin was given to me and it doesnt help and I dont want to get to the point where i think maybe I just need two at a time instead and it will take care of the pain....I try to control my pain with my meditation and breathing and I seem to be able to handle the worst of it that way...

- What does negative thinking bring.....nothing but negative....Ive taught my kids to never say i cant because cant never could...Positive draws positive and negative draws negative...
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- No one is very educated on lupus they ask you what it is where does it come from and can tell them that it affects almost every aspect of your health and wellbeing at some time of every day...they know that I have times that I am unable to attend certain things or walk the malls or ache and hurt but I try to make it seem as though Its just lupus so it makes me a little tired and they look at it as more of an arthritic problem and I kinda leave it there...My husband is my rock and he understands every aspect of what I am living and actually what he and I are living..
- Meditation Working / Worked
- Every day I try to give myself time to control my breathing and think of nothing at all...I sometimes will play Native American flute music or meditation tapes...I need my own little place just for a few minutes..it helps me to energize so that I can smile and relate with family and friends without feeling so exhausted it hurts to breathe to talk...but it works for me...and I always believe that we should all walk in peace and sunshine no matter where we are or where we go..A
- Plaquenil Working / Worked
- I guess it works its the only drug i have been on except sulfasalazine for my lupus..I cant take NSAIDS because they cause gastric problems not even an aspirin low dose and certainly not naproxen sodium which are commonly used for the inflammation and swelling of the joints so i walk around with lumpy bumpys sometimes until they decide to reabsorb or move to another spot.
