Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have had chronic major depression which has been resisitant to treatment for the past 5 years. I also have strong social phobias.
Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Too Soon to Tell
- recently started CT so too soon to tell yet
- Effexor Not Working
- no effect or side effects
- Elavil Not Working
- not effective, made me slightly sleepy
- Electroconvulsive therapy Not Working
- 2 series of ECT treatments left me with memory deficits
- Geodon Not Working
- acute reaction (possible seratonin reaction)
- Lexapro Not Working
- no effect or side effects
- Meditation Somewhat Helpful
- calming for anxiety
- Prozac Somewhat Helpful
- worked for a few years
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- recently started cognitive therapy which seems more helpful than other types of therapy
- Seroquel Not Working
- was used to augment Nardil for sleeping but not helpful
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- strong support from husband very helpful
- Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
- taken in combination with many other drugs
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- worked for approx 10 yrs
- Selegiline Not Working
- not effective in treating depression... no side effects but only took for a short period of time
Close Anxiety
very shy with social phobia

- made me feel drunk

- Meditation Somewhat Helpful
- have not used meditation in a couple of years
- Xanax Working / Worked
- use only as needed
- Zoloft Not Working
- helpful for depression but only slight benefit for anxiety
