I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I am a happily married, 28 year old, Christian. I recently found out I had thyroid cancer and had a full thyroidectomy. I am doing well but waiting to do the radioactive iodine treatment.
Interests
I love to sing- I sing in my church's band. I'm a mixed media artist and love to do photography. I also love to travel with my husband.

Close Thyroid Cancer
Type: Papillary CarcinomaI've had a full thyroidectomy. The cancer had spread to surrounding tissue. I just completed radioactive iodine treatment.
Treatments
- Cytomel Working / Worked
- I felt great on it. I am now using it alongside Synthroid.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- I believe in a God in whom nothing is impossible. I pray for flawless treatment and a quick resolution. Its working because I've had terrific doctors, quick treatments, and a very positive attitude.
- Radioactive Iodine Working / Worked
- Just finished RAI. I get a full body scan this week to confirm that it worked.
- Thyroidectomy Working / Worked
- Easier than you'd think. One month later I just have a small scar. Pretty painless procedure.
- Synthroid Working / Worked
- I just started on Synthroid this week. It seems to be giving me the energy I need. I do suppliment it with 12 mcg Cytomel 3 times a day
Close Obesity
I struggled with borderline anorexia in high school and ruined my metabolism. I recently lost my thyroid to cancer and have been battling weight gain the last couple years. I am 70 pounds overweight and struggle with my self-image.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
- I try to avoid fatty and sugary foods, although sugar is a weakness.
- Physical Exercise Not Working
- I worked out really hard for months and lost no more than 12 pounds. I then had to get my thyroid removed b/c I found out I had cancer. I'm now without that metabolism controller. And I'm still doing treatment, so don't have the energy to get back to the gym yet.
- Prayer Somewhat Helpful
- I trust that God has this all worked out. He knows the desires of my heart.
