Close Insomnia
I've been experiencing insomnia for 20+ years now, and is getting worse as I get older. Sometimes I think I'll end up like that guy in Vietnam who hasn't slept in years.
Treatments
- Ambien Working / Worked
- Worked great for sleeping, but gave me terrible sleepwalking episodes (walking outside with car keys in hand, etc) Gives a strange, "trippy" effect (that I didn't mind because it helped me to get to sleep) Next-day hangover took hours to wear off.
- Counting Sheep Not Working
- This has never worked for me.
- Lavender Somewhat Helpful
- Helps me to relax, but not necessarily sleep.
- Lunesta Not Working
- Makes me feel paranoid and emotional the next day. Seems to exacerbate depression; I feel like a giant walking wound the next day.
- Meditation Somewhat Helpful
- Works if I can get myself into a good trance state.
- Melatonin Working / Worked
- Worked for 10 years then quit working for me.
- Music Not Working
- Any sort of noise keeps me awake.
- Reading Not Working
- Does NOT work, sorry.
- Sonata Considering
- My doctor tried to prescribe this, BUT the ding-bat insurance company said I had to try Ambien (terrible) and Lunesta (worse) first. Maybe I'll go sleep on their desks.
- Valerian Not Working
- Gives me horrible, realistic nightmares. I'd rather stay awake.
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionThe depression comes and goes, sometimes without warning. There can be massive triggers or no triggers, and boom, there it is. I might go for months without an episode and run right into one like a brick wall.

- Sometimes it works.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Sometimes it works.
- Zoloft Not Working
- UGH! I was so nervous and shaky after being on this for two weeks that I begged my doc to let me stop taking it.
