About Me
DXD RA age 46 allergic to DMARD and NSAID- been using Enbrel- going to try Orencia Monday- Married 3 grown children-3 grandsons. Also have FMS, Hashimotos, Reynauds, OA and Bursitis. I have some great doctors who continually help me with this disease- am changing to Orencia because Medicare does not cover Enbrel- only about 3K a year - but will pay for Orencia- Have been on Medrol for 4 months due to Medicare nitemare- so Docs have opted for Orencia- so am hoping it will work as well as or better than Enbrel. Enbrel allowed me the ability to be mobile- without it am in constant flares and usually in ER 2-3X month for seized up joints. Has been frustrating disease for me as I was very active and own 4 companies- since illness have not been able to do nearly 1/8th of what I used to do. Have the best husband in the world-who is extremely patient and supportive. He helps me dress, do housework and even hired someone to help me with my businesses. He just was dxd with OA and is begining to understand how painful RA must be. So some days we both just hobble about. My motto is to keep on moving no matter what.

Close Rheumatoid Arthritis
See above- have been battling this disease for 4 years now-am alleric to just about everything but Enbrel- which gives me mobility - unless I get sick- then am out of service. I try to be positive but some days I loose perspective- I also have other health problems which exacerbate the RA- OA FMS Hashimotos Reynauds and most recently bursitis. Am going to be put on Orencia Monday- am nervous as I am worried about allergic reactions- as everything I have been on other than Enbrel I have been allergic too- So wish me luck
Treatments
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- This works well when I remember to use it. Unfortunately some days it is hard to be positive when you are in constant pain and cant move but I can always start the day over!!
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- At my worst in the begining I was basically paralyzed my middle son who has Hodgkins and my husband Dave helped me with everthing from hygiene to eating...they even made sure no one knew how bad off I was as I have a horribly high source of false pride Without them I would be sunk...And when I get really disgusted I remember I am lucky I am not as sick as my son who has given me alot of strength and determination by following his example.
