Dr Stuff Mood
Thursday, August 21, 2008 | A General Update story

just hung up the phone from the Dr. who will most likely perform my surgery to put in the transabdominal stitch.  I just want to make sure I can make sense of what we discussed.

1.  He mentioned Pelvic Exam.  Do I need one I asked. No, I need for the High Risk Doc to perform a sonogram to measure my cervical length while I am not pregnant, to be used for reference when I am pregnant.

2. I asked him if he spoke with my ob.  He said briefly, but that she needed to reference my chart to recall what she told me.  He will speak with her most likely on Monday since he will not be in tomorrow.

3.  I asked when will he be available to perform the surgery.  He told me I need to call in the morning and speak with his assistant in scheduling.

4. I asked how long is the recovery period.  2-3 hours for general anesthia to wear off.  (the last time I had preventative cerclage surgery it took approx 8 hours for the anesthia to wear off enough for me to go home)

5. How about restrictions afterwards.  It is dependant upon my level of physical pain which is usually 2 to 3 days.  Plan on staying out from work for at least that many days.

6. Should I call him after I schedule with the High Risk OB for sonogram.  He says I should send him an email to let him know what day it is scheduled for. He should have this information for when he speaks with my OB on Monday.

By the time we hung up the phone it was too late to get the High Risk OB receptionist on the phone to schedule my appt.  I will have to call tomorrow in the morning.
