Close Bereavement
Type: Loss of a ParentI lost my father to esophageal cancer on April 4, 2007. He & my mom live 2 houses away. It was a difficult struggle seeing someone so strong have to suffer needlessly. I miss him more than I can say.
Treatments
- Crying Working / Worked
- There is so much relief after letting it all out.
- Grief Counseling Working / Worked
- I strongly recommend Griefshare - griefshare.org I began to understand so much more about grief that I had never known. It helps to know that all the different things you are experiencing are part of the process to being able to live again.
- Keeping Busy Working / Worked
- Being busy does give your body respite from the piercing pain of loss.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- I pray to communicate my feelings with my Maker...I do believe that is makes a difference.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- It would be much more difficult if I didn't have my mom & sister to share my grief with. Others that are not as close seem to "forget" that I'm still experiencing grief.
- Time Working / Worked
- You must go THROUGH the grief - not get over it - there's no shortcut - and only time can bring you through.
- Writing Working / Worked
- It helped to write letters to my dad pouring out my grief to him telling him how I felt.
