    About Me

I was diagnosed first with psoriasis and then, a few months later, psoriatic arthritis. Oh happy day. I've learned not to expect anything from any type of treatment, but if something does work, embrace it while you can, because it may not last long. I've learned its how you handle your disease that defines you, not the disease. I'm so glad to find this site. I've got the best friends a girl could ask for, but sometimes its good to talk to someone who has walked in your shoes (and those people are hard to find)

I have been receiving Remicade for almost 6 months and it works great! I've had psoriasis since I was 7 years old and I had tried everything but nothing worked. My skin looks and feels beautiful now! Great Results! Good luck with your treatment. I am excited for you!

Affected Areas: Psoriasis of the Skin

I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis when I was 18. Used methotrexate for several years but it eventually quit working for me. I have always struggled with my skin but the arthritis was under control until 2005. My insurance company denied my Raptiva out of the blue and from May 05 until Nov 05, I had the worst flare up I've ever had. I've had a hard time finding treatment that works for me since then and am currently going through the insurance process to start Remicade.

      Treatments

      Coal Tar Not Working
Not helpful for me, but I have been told I am an extreme case. Only side effect was the stench.
      Dovonex Working / Worked
Worked, but I could only get a small tube at the time, which lasted about 2.5 seconds.
      Enbrel Working / Worked
Worked for about a year or so and slowly the skin began to break out. Great for arthritis.
      Methotrexate Working / Worked
Worked for years but I felt horrible the day after I took it. Nausea, lethargy, yuck!
      Phototherapy Working / Worked
Love it! Very relaxing as well
      Raptiva Working / Worked
Worked great. Insurance denied after I had been on it over a year.
      Soriatane Not Working
Did not work at all. Made skin worse. Derm advised that was normal at first and then it should have cleared everything up. It didn't. I know different treatments work differently for different people, but I would not recommend this for ANYONE!
      Triamcinolone Topical Somewhat Helpful
      Remicade Considering
      Experiences with Remicade anyone?
