    About Me

I am currently unable to get online very often. Hopefully I can participate more in the future. ______________________________ I'm a 42 year old woman suffering from depression, ADHD, and bi-polar disorder. I'm married to my soul mate and we have two beautiful children who both have been diagnoised with depression and ADHD. I've been working with the same medical team for 6 years now and have made lots of progress but feel like something is still missing. I'm hoping that DailyStrength can help me figure this out!

    Interests

I like to read, play computer games, scrapbook, ride horses, but most importantly spend time with my husband and kids.

      : Clinical (Major) Depression

I was diagnoised at the age of 7. Had ineffective treatment most of my life. About 6 years ago I stumbled upon the most amazing treatment team. My Psychiatrist handles all my meds and my Psychologist handles all my therapy. I know I'm in a better place that I was 6 years ago but the more I learn the more I see that I need to learn. I guess I'm just waiting for it all to make sense.

      Treatments

      Celexa Somewhat Helpful
I took Celexa in the early 2000's but had problem with break over so my doctor moved me to Lexapro.
      Cymbalta Working / Worked
Cymbalta has done wonders for me! Not only does it provide consistent serotonin support but it really does help with the aches & pains related to depression. I take 180 mg per day (90 in AM and 90 in PM)
      Effexor Somewhat Helpful
I took Effexor XR for several months but my doctor moved me to Cymbalta when it became available. Both of my children take Effexor XR and have seen good results with it.
      Lamictal Working / Worked
I've only been on Lamicatal for about 5 weeks but I noticed an improvement in my mood swings almost immediately. I'm now taking 100mg per day and it seems to be working well.
      Lexapro Not Working
I took Lexapro for several months in late 2002 into early 2003. I had problems with break over and it totally killed my sex drive. So my doctor switched me to Effexor.
      Meditation Working / Worked
I've learned a form of meditation called "Inner Santctuary". It is much more compatible with my ADHD brain that the standard "Ommm" meditation. My biggest issue is using this coping skill. I tend to let situations get out of control and then it's too late to meditate or journal, etc.
      Positive Thinking Working / Worked
I work with my therapist on a regular basis to reframe my distorted thought processes. To find at least neutral thoughts if not positive ones. The Daily Mood Log from "The Feeling Good" book has been the best technique.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
My therapist is WONDERFUL! She helps me stay grounded and reminds me at every session that "How we think effects how we feel". Seems like a simple concept for most people but I wouldn't be most people. I know that I will have to take medication and participate in some sort of "talk" therapy for the rest of my life to stay ahead of my disease.
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
I'm truly blessed with a husband who provides me with tons of love and support (no matter what my mood). My two beautiful children (who also suffer from depression) are a constant source of support. My parents, a few close family members, and 1 very special best friend round out my support network! I am truly blessed!!!!
      Writing Somewhat Helpful
Journaling can be very helpful when I remember to use it as a coping skill.
      Zoloft Not Working
I tried Zoloft in the late 90's with some success until I had break over issues again.

      Treatments

      Adderall Working / Worked
Adderall XR is working well for myself and both of my children.
      Music Working / Worked
Music helps everything in my life be/act/feel better!
