    About Me

I'm a 5th grade teacher. I joined this group because the last 3 months of my life have been a rollercoaster ride with my dad going into the hospital because of his appendix and then it being a stage 4 cancer diagnosis.

    Interests

I enjoy a wide variety of things...I like spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach, traveling, reading, jogging, teaching, watching the Flyers, going to the movies, eating chocolate and ice cream, and being outdoors when it is warm!

    • Hug

      From CherKeg July 4

Hi! I wanted to send you a big hug! I am sorry that you had to hear that news about your Dad having cancer. I can remember where I was the day my sister called me to tell me that our Dad just found out he had cancer. The news is such a shock and leaves you feeling devastated. The journey is very much a rollercoaster ride. I will be thinking of you & your family as you go through this ordeal. I really hope that the treatments will work for your Dad. I'm here to listen if you ever feel like talking. Sometimes it feels better to "let it all out". Take care. Hugs, Cheryl

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 appendiceal cancer that had metasiszed at the end of March. He had surgery on March 28th to remove a tumor, his appendix, half his colon, a few lymph nodes, and some abdominal lining. On June 25th, he went into have another surgery called cytoreduction and HIPEC Treatment, they opened him up and found the cancer had spread too much to perform the surgery, so they closed him back up. Now we have to look into chemo even though prognosis is only 1 year with it.

      Stage: IV (Any T, Any N, M1)

My dad has appendiceal cancer, but they are now treating it as colo-rectal cancer. He was going to have cytoreduction and HIPEC surgery on 6/25, but they opened him up and there was too much cancer to perform the surgery, so now we will be looking into chemo, even though we have been warned that chemo doesn't usually help this type of cancer. We were told that he has a year at most to live.
