Close Epilepsy & Seizures
I've had complex partial seizures for the past 26 years and am a candidate for a left temporal lobectomy.
Treatments
- Dilantin Somewhat Helpful
- Keppra Working / Worked
- Still having complex partial seizures, but the Keppra/Trileptal cocktail seems to be the best combo so far.
- Lamictal Not Working
- Some of the side effects were bad for me.
- Phenobarbital Somewhat Helpful
- Took this and Dilantin combo for 23 years.
- Surgery, Brain Considering
- Possibly a left temporal lobectomy. Go for the WADA on 7/25/8.
- Tegretol Somewhat Helpful
- Topamax Not Working
- Bad side effects for me.
- Trileptal Working / Worked
- Currently taking this and Keppra
Close Sleep Apnea
I'm a 51 year old woman with sleep apnea, epilepsy (complex partial seizures), non-insulin dependent diabetes, and I'm obese. In fact, I think the majority (of not all) of my problems could be resolved if I were to lose about 75 pounds. The seizures wouldn't go away, but they would decrease to the point where I could take a lower lever of anti-seizure medications.
Treatments
- CPAP Working / Worked
- I have sleep apnea, use a CPAP and it helps, but I have a lot of trouble with it. I have more than one, because it was hard to get one that fit right and didn't actually leak so much that it was still doing any good. It works, but I sure do wish I didn't need it.
