is feeling Bad
I am a 19 year old girl from a small town in coastal Maine. I was finally diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. This diagnosis took me at least 6 years to get. When I was a freshman in high school I was hospitalized with ITP, which come to find out was the lupus attacking my blood platelets. I was always having what I now know where flares, where I was not even able to get up off the couch on my own when I got there. I became this teenage girl who had to have her mother help her do the simple things in life and I didn't know why, nor did I like it. All the doctors I went to looked at me like I was crazy, there is nothing wrong with this young person, she MUST be lying. But I was finally given the correct blood tests and here I am. Shortly after my SLE diagnosis, I was also diagnosed with Lupus-induced Fibromyalgia. I am learning to live with them, though it can be quite hard. With nobody around to talk to about it who truly understands what you are going through, it can be difficult at times. I try to keep everything in my life the same, keep the same activities, but I also have to learn to watch myself. I no longer can push myself past what my limitations are, and I am getting used to that as well. I'm just glad I know what I have now, and I'm really not crazy after all. :)
I love being on the water, kayaking, fishing, swimming and camping. I also love photography. I like to be with friends, go to the movies, listen to music and read.
