    About Me

I am a chemical engineer, but currently unable to work. I have a wonderful husband and two adorable dogs, and have lived in Louisville all my life.

    Interests

I love to shop online, watch movies (preferably comedies, sci-fi and old 80's movies), listen to music, spoil my dogs, and spend time with my family and friends.

      Treatments

      Celebrex Not Working
Tried it but didn't really see any results.
      Enbrel Not Working
No luck. Took this with Methotrexate. This medicine burned really bad during the injection. It felt like my veins were on fire, regardless of injecting it quickly or very slowly.
      Folic Acid Working / Worked
I take this as a preventative to prevent potential hair loss from Methotrexate.
      Humira Not Working
No luck. Took this with Methotrexate. Also burned really bad during the injection, not quite as bad as Enbrel, but felt like my veins were on fire, regardless of injecting it quickly or very slowly.
      Methotrexate Working / Worked
I've been using this medication since the beginning of my illness, in July 2004. I tried subcutaneous (injection) b/c it's been shown to absorb up to 80%, as opposed to around 20% with tablets, but the injections made me violently sick. So I'm back to tablets and the nasty side effects cleared up.
      Orencia Working / Worked
My first injection I had an allergic reaction, but the office said it wasn't common. Their office actually studied the medication for 5 years before its release. Now I take antihistamines beforehand and I've been doing great with the injection, and it doesn't burn like the others. It took about 3-1/2 months to start seeing results, but some of my inflammation has subsided, along with some nodules I had forming. So sticking with this one for a while, I hope. Still on Methotrexate.
Pain Management Clinic Working / Worked
Just had Spinal Cord Stimulation surgery. I wasn't having any luck with oral medications, so now I have a computer that sends electrical impulses to my brain to "distract" it from my chronic pain. Hit some road bumps with a little infection and muscle problems, but my constant pain has subsided and my active pain is cut in half :o) And I don't have to worry about "building up a tolerance," like you do with pain meds.
      Prednisone Somewhat Helpful
Worked miracles at the beginning of my disease, but doesn't seem to work anymore.
      Remicade Not Working
Tried this along with Methotrexate, but no luck. Also made me violently sick.
      Cymbalta Not Working
I would NEVER go on this medication again. It made my depression so awful that I would get out of bed for an hour or two to shower then go right back to sleep. Then I started having terrible migraines and grand mal seizures. Supposedly this isnt a wellknown side effect but Ive been feeling SO much better since Ive gotten it out of my system and seizurefree for over 4 months and counting My grand mals had become more frequent 4 weeks apart so this is tremendous for me.
      Prozac Working / Worked
I switched to this after Cymbalta and noticed a HUGE difference within 2 or 3 days. I feel SO much better now o
