Support Groups
Close Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Left leg DVT and bilateral PEs in late May 2008. Spent 5 days in the hospital, including 2 in the ICU. Had an IVC filter placed on second day in hospital. I was on a Heparin drip in the hospital and transistioned to Coumadin and Lovenox once I was discharged. Now I am only on Coumadin. I have my INR taken weekly and see a hematologist regularly. It was determined that I have the Lupus Anticoagulant and so I will be on Coumadin for the rest of my life.
Treatments
- Coumadin Working / Worked
- Alternating between 10 mg and 7.5 mg. No side effects yet. My INRs have been inconsistent since I stopped taking Lovenox injections with the Coumadin.
- Heparin Working / Worked
- Was on a Heparin drip for 5 days while I was in the hospital. INRs were tested every 6 hours and flucated between therapeutic and non-therapeutic levels.
- Lovenox Working / Worked
- 100 mg subcutaneous injections for 7 days after my release from the hospital. I also took 2 more shots when my INR was 1.6. Now I am just taking the shots when my hematologist advises.
