Since being diagnosed with Chiari 1 in June my son and I  have come along way.  We went from having a neurologist who did not understand anything that my child was going through to meeting a lady who's child has the same thing.  We went to Lebonheur's Childrens Hospital in Memphis on June 25 for a spinal MRI and the MRI technician came in the room to talk to us.  She then mentioned that her 4 year old daughter has Chiari 1.  My husband started asking her questions and she told us that her daughter had to have 2 surgeries for her Chiari and she gave us the name of the surgeon who did it.  It is Dr. Frederick Boop at the Semmes Murphy Clinic in Memphis.  She was very pleased with him so we have an appointment to see him on July 24th.  I don't know where we will go from here but I am in for the long haul!
