Close Sexual Abuse
I was sexually abused by my stepfather for about 8 years growing up. I have been in therapy for about 5 years now and am feeling like I need to tell my mom and the rest of my family. I feel like this is necessary for me to totally reclaim my life but I am also terrified that I will destroy my mother and brother's life and that I will be blamed instead of my stepfather.
Treatments
- Group Therapy Working / Worked
- Been doing this for about a month. It's been extremely helpful to talk with others who have similar experiences, although also very difficult to deal with things in such an honest way
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Been taking for about 3 years a very small dosage. Only had side effects for the first few days but its been fine ever since. The medication keeps me from having panic attacks and insomnia like I was having for a time. Its been very helpful.
Close Healthy Relationships
My fiance and I have been together for 3 1/2 years and have been planning on getting married next May. We have had many ups and downs regarding his Indian family who don't approve of our relationship and the fact that we've been living together for a year. Last night he tells me he needs to move back in with his parents to work things out with them, leaving me in our apartment to live alone. He says he still wants to marry me but he needs to try to work things out with them.

- Still working on being able to communicate
- Writing Somewhat Helpful
- Gives me somewhere to vent my emotions
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Been taking for a few years has helped me be less anxious and depressed through the rough patches
