Goose pen
We have been going and going lately and today we are going to go and get the materials for the goose and chicken pens. …
I'm not sure where to begin, typing is hard, every word is hard to type with my fibro today.
Had to kill a mad moose the other day, it killed a goose and was after me first earlier in the day, we hate to do stuff like that. The poor moose didn't have her calf and she had bite marks on the back of her leg, her udder was full and it was so mad and crazy.
Earlier in the day I was out with the geese and she sneaked up on me as I was yelling to son who tore up his knee and is on crutches. Normally, moose make noise and don't like to come to close to people, she was ready to attach me and the geese. I hollered at her to go away and I would never have made it to any safety if she wanted me then. Son kept hollering at me to run, but I only took two steps closer to the house and she took two closer to the woods, I hollered again and she moosyed to the woods and I to the house, it was so weird.
Later that night around 1 am we heard noises in the goose pen and I looked out and there was a moose in the pen and one goose on the ground, I ran without thinking to the pen. I picked up a wooded trellis and ran into the pen and shooed the moose away from the goose on the ground who was flapping and trying to move. The moose ran to the pen where the smaller geese are caged up and I ran after the moose with trellis in hand screaming for it to go away and leave them alone! The moose broke into that pen and took the goose out of it and that is the goose that was on the ground, the moose ran to the fence but wouldn't leave and ran back to the goose on the ground and started to bite and stamp on it. I ran back to the goose with trellis and roared and the moose headed back to the little geese pen and then to the fence and stood there not jumping over to leave and I roared, "Don't even think about it!" as it turned to look at me running at it with the trellis and shaking my other hand at it like some crazed mommy goose myself. It jumped over the fence and I heard it go off just a bit and I ran to the goose on the ground and called to hubby to help me put down the bird.
Hubby was getting a gun he told me later he wouldn't step outside with such a crazed moose without a gun. He went to the fence where the moose jumped over and I let out the geese in their pens as they totally freaked out and I picked up the dead goose and placed it out of their sight.
Hubby heard the moose coming back and it charged him and it wouldn't stop, hubby waited and waited but it wouldn't stop coming at him. He had to shoot the poor moose and it went down with one shot, hubby never shot a moose before and it was a small caliber gun just bigger then a 22 (I'm not into guns so much so). We called the troopers and fish and game and everyone was very nice about the whole thing. The moose went to a charity in town, that is what happens to all moose killed or road killed. We had to take care of our geese and by the time the charity came and pulled the moose out of the woods it was after 4 in the morning. It was terrible about the mommy moose and she had a story to tell, but she was so mad, she just wanted to kill and keep killing. We are lucky and never chase a moose with a trellis! Troopers told hubby it was a great shot and they tried to make him feel better about it, but it is always sad and it loosing her calf I can really understand her pain and the bites looked nasty on her leg, poor thing. We had to dress our goose and calm down the others and it was a weird night. We have had owls, eagles, foxes, 2 wild pet dogs, neighbor dog and several moose all go after our geese and the chickens but this was the weirdest thing ever.
Had to take eldest son to the Dr yesterday and he has had a MRI, CT, Xrays and several braces for his knee and yesterday we found out he will probably need surgery on his knee. We are waiting aweek to see how it heals with this new brace and his knee cap dislocated and stuff under his knee came loose and tore and we are praying he will heal and not need to much fixing.
Youngest son and his wife came here for their first anniversary this weekend to visit. It was nice and they seem happy and are planning on moving back to Fairbanks in a couple of years (they live in Anchorage about 6-8 hrs drive away) That way they will buy a house here and start a family then. So they looked up houses here in the area and we have a lot of them right now but they are so over priced. The wife helped clean another goose that had some problems and they took that one home with some sourdough starter that I started 20 years ago. The older starter is the better it is, how time flies. So I gave them a dollie that I crochet and it took about 3-4 months to do with beads and looks like candle flames it is really my biggest one I have ever made and blocking it took the whole craft table!
So I have alot more to tell, but life is never dull is it?! I have had 2 shots now in my middle back for pain and the MRI found cysts in several organs and blah, blah. I only have so many organs left! LOL, I have gotten rid of most of the ones that I can and still lead a normal life, so later will see about the cysts. Maybe, I am just trying to make more of myself?! LOL sort of like a clone or I have a budding personality?! weird, I know..LOL but if you can't laugh at yourself, sheesh..LOL
Have a great day and keep out of troubles way! HUGS

WOW! Sounds like you are having way too much fun!
Speaking of sourdough, we started a starter back in 1984 and have been carrying it around with us. We haven't used it lately and it looks awful, but come winter we will get it out and try to get it going again. You are right the older the better.
Take care hope your back responds to the shots. Mine in my neck were a lifesavor.
