Hi!
It has been a long time since I wrote.
Shelbie is doing well. She hasn't had a sz since 8/22. The doctor is weaning her off the zarontin. The doctor wanted to wean her off topamax, but the last time we did that she started having more szs. I feel okay getting rid of the zarontin.
She is really having a hard time in school. The teachers really want to push her. We get miss signals with this. They tells us she is doing ok, but she doesn't want to do any work, than we get a message saying she is doing well. How can I get the school to understand that there are going to be days that she will struggle, and days she will do well. They just don't understand. They think since she isn't having any szs, than she should be able to do the work. And if she did the work yesterday, why can' she do it today. I am really having a hard time with this. I know they want to get her ready for 7th grade, but if she can't do 6th grade work, what than? She is reading at a 3rd grade level. There are days that she feels she can't do it. I honestly feel it is because of the meds. What can I do?
Take care all!
Mindy

fith and sixth grade were the worst years of my life school wise. does shelbie have an IEP? teachers need to understand. i agree that the meds can play a part into this. talk to her neuro and see what s/he thinks. i always have days where i feel like i dont want to do the work. and there are somedays where i dont do anywork just because i cant get myself to do it. i hope this was of some help. message me if you wanna chat some more! xoxo
