Until 9:30 pm, May 4, 2007, just 50 miles or so to the east of my home, there was a very nice, quiet, historic town. This town's name was Greensburg, Kansas. I say WAS because it no longer exsists. If you the Weather Channel, CNN, etc... you have probably already been inundated with information about this story. The whole town (90-95% anyway) has been destroyed by a monsterous tornado. For me and my Kansas friends this is very real and very personal. It hurts so much. Please keep the people of Greensburg, Kansas in your hearts and prayers if you are so inclined. They need all of the help they can get. If you would like to see more about this horrible disaster, I recommend you go to www.ksn.com and just click any of the severeal videos they have featured there. I had and aunt, uncle, cousin and her family who lost their homes to this horrible tornado.
R.I.P. Greensburg
My thoughts & prayers go out to you as well as all of those affected. I can so relate - b/c I live in Louisiana...I went through Hurricane Katrina & Hurricane Rita...and I know all too well the devestation and just flat out sadness that comes from things like this. It takes so much time to recover - New Orleans will probably never recover. But hopefully Kansas has better hopes and will build back better & bigger. Again my thoughts w/your family & friends.
